GTG, Old Copper, Piece of Cake?
Ok, since everyone is having fun with guessing grades of large cents in old holders today, I'm hoping
this will be an easy one, with a narrow range of guesses - but who knows? Crappy iPhone pics,
old holders, anything can happen!

Nice coin.
I'm on my phone but it looks remarkably mark free.
I will guess 63 only because of luster which may or may not be there.
Are we allowed to know if the scratch that appears to start to the left of star 9 (in the area of the stain), downward through the hair and into the field, almost to the left of star 11, is on the coin, rather than the holder?
If it’s on the holder, I’ll guess the coin’s graded MS64 BN, even though I grade it 63. If it’s on the coin, I’ll guess it’s graded 63BN.

It’s on the holder, there are no scratches on the coin itself.
I'm going with 62.
Thank you. And please put me down for MS64 BN on the label, though I’d grade it 63, due to apparent subdued luster and reverse planchet issues.

Even with what appears to be some struck through areas on the Reverse, the strike is very nice and a very mark free example. Since there is no scratch on the Obverse, I would agree with @MFeld and say MS64 BN.

64BN was my first thought.
Keep in mind that the subdued-looking luster could be a result of how it was imaged. Should planchet issues be part of the grade? I am asking bc I really don't know.........
Best, SH
It's a nice coin whatever the numeric designation someone else thinks it is. If I like it you know it's decent.
65
Agreed about the imaging and luster, which is why I wrote “due to apparent subdued luster..” Generally, unless fairly severe, planchet issues don’t seem to affect the grade much, if at all.

MS64 Brown with a sticker.
I like it a lot..........64 brn.
Can you please let us know the grade before the Chinese rocket booster falls on our heads?

I was waiting for @Crypto to guess....
64.

63BN , a like from me.
Thanks everyone.
Mark Feld nailed it, with his personal opinion of 63.....although most everyone I have shown it to believes it’s under graded, and I’ve turned down stupid money for it. I’ve owned it for around 25 years, and hasn’t been to the sticker factory. I really
like this large cent, as it qualifies as a “greenie”, and you don’t see many of them:
As much as I appreciate the good word, while, based on the pictures, I personally graded the coin 63, my guess was that it would be in a 64 holder.

Late to the party....Definitely looks better than 63, to me. Wouldn't be surprised at 64 or even 65. Love chocolate brown Large cents.
If you sent it to the bean factory, in it's vintage slab; I don't think it would warrant a "greenie" but rather a "goldie".
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I have a rarity index of my very own I apply to “opportunity cost” when I look at coins that goes:
How many big shows aka fun or Baltimore would I have to go to to find a coin like X?
That would be an R7, Coins like that rarely ever hit the floor
11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
Coins like that rarely ever hit the floor
I would certainly agree, in this day and age.
Things were a bit different in the 90's....I got this at a show, I believe from Gary Atkins, when he was with MS&G or whatever his old company was at the time. I was working on a set of major varieties of large cents from the transitional years 1835-1843, and this one looked nice and was reasonably priced. Looking at recent price guides, I'm glad I purchased the coins I did, when I did!
hey, am I chopped liver?
Sorry, yes you did, but the post came in while I was taking and posting the slab shot, so I missed it. I have NO excuse for missing flatwoods answer...
Missed it. I was thinking a 64. Nice coin!

Figured 😏 , frankly I'd hold on to this one as is, but I'd surely attempt to get it beaned.
Oh my! I was going with a 64. Nice!

Meh. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally.
Well.... Once again, late to the game... I thought 64.....and still think it could get that if cracked and submitted. JMO. Cheers, RickO
Thanks RickO.
That's part of the quandary, because I love those rattler holders, as do many, but there is a big price jump between 3 and 4, at least in the price guides.
But I guess a gold sticker would look nice and serve the same purpose at auction? Who knows, this is one of my few Never for Sale coins lol!
Late too the party, my guess would've been 64BN.
Me too.
