Our pets... their magic that brightens our lives....

I've been inspired by a sad story to make this post.... sad in one way beatiful in another.
We world wide have been in such a funk dealing with Covid, division in many ways, 18 months of uncertainty.
And we still have a ways to go....friends and family still hurting daily.
There's a story should be easy to find about an Ohio law enforcement officer and the smallest K-9 ever.
If you havent seen this clip....warning it is both sad and beautiful in the same sentence.
You see the police office partner for 14 years was a small rat terrier mix. The officer and his partner were together daily 24/7!
The officer took his pup everywhere work, home, shopping everywhere.... The officer got brain cancer his partner layed by his side until he passed.
The little dog followed his partner not 6 hours later.... not ashamed to admit it brought tears to these 67 year old blues....
Again so sad but we all know there's a begining and a end....but inbetween there's life....and the things we share.
Things that when you been with times that test your soul ,make you smile ,gives you hope, and lifts our spirts.
I recall a member last week sharing the loss of a dear 4 footed friend , my sincere condolences......
However today I ask you to share those furry ,feathered , or what ever friends that makes us smile....on sad days are your best medicine to know that they are unconditionaly by your side in the good times and bad times.
Someone once said to me your pets don't go to heaven....my reply then I want to go where they go.....
Please post your pets...give us all a smile, or a memory of a loyal friend.
I know this has nothing to do with numastics, but it will give us all a smile, and Whats so terrible about that...?
I appreciate your support, and post Thank you in advance.
Don't forget to tell us a little something about you pet.
I have two pups.... a Bogie and a Darby both rescues as all our pups have been in our married life.
Before these two there were 4 Dalmatians Bo, Savanna, Babs, and Lucky.... so we went from 50 to 70 lbs of high engery and love to pint size pups full of go....

I heard that story. We have had a mixture of pure breed Boston Terriers and rescues, mostly Labrador Retriever mixes for the past 25 years. Here's a few of them. We still have Dylan but he's getting up there in age.

I'll post a coin to make it legit
Bogie is a Boston/Jack.....his sister Darby by adoption is a Jack/Rat ...
They keep me smiling and have me trained quite well.....

Sure can't forget Marms, the most doglike cat I've encountered. I'll post a diving buffalo to go with the animal discussion.
@lordmarcovan I know you got something to add here.....
BTW my pups love to burry themselves in blankets....Darby under a Cabelas bed from one of our Dal's Bogie barrel chair has been a dog friendly seat, bed, etc for several pups Lucky loved to curl up in that chair.

Diana and Charlie.
These two rescue dogs were already named when we got them and it was a coincidence that we got them named after a couple of people in England. Diana is a Beagle and was rescued from a breeding farm when their owners were arrested for selling drugs, and Charlie is a Mix that was found wandering the streets and after extensive searching was destined to be euthanized if we didn't take him. They are both great dogs!
Max and Edie, brother and sister, evil twins. They adopted us out of a lineup of humans.
My 160 pound best friend. He’s the smartest, sweetest and most gentle dog we’ve had the pleasure of being with. Sadly, every day now is a bit harder as the wear and tear of use and time are really adding up.

Treasured Friend
I lost a treasured friend today
The little dog who used to lay
His gentle head upon my knee
And shared his silent thoughts with me.
He’ll come no longer to my call
Retrieve no more his favourite ball
A voice far greater than my own
Has called him to his golden throne.
Although my eyes are filled with tears
I thank him for the happy years
He let him spend down here with me
And for his love and loyalty.
When it is time for me to go
And join him there, this much I know
I shall not fear the transient dark
For he will greet me with a bark
My deepest condolences on your losses may the memory of such a good friend so dear keep your hearts free of tears....
And when the time is right again...may god bless you with unconditional four footed ,furry love once again!

Thank you, @HalfDimeDude . I will share that with my wife!
Most precious things for 14 years. Now gone. Duke and Daisy, brother and sister. My son found 4 of these 8 week old babies in the median of I-77 on Flat Top Mountain on the way home from work. His boss took one, Nick's best friend Corey took another and Nick took two. Duke was 140 lbs and Daisy was 105 lbs. Both died of spinal cancer. I'm sorry for all these losses but just remember the great moments you had with them.

As a cat owner I am mystified at the fourth picture... a puzzle in my house would be a pet magnet! Here are mine:
In addition to the three cats in the house (and a German Shepherd), we had a large orange tabby show up around our house about a year ago. He turned out to be very friendly and we started putting food out for him on our back deck and he, quite literally, moved in out there. Then, three days before Christmas I noticed he had a severe limp. My wife, the nurse, checked him out and found a deep puncture, or bite, wound in his right shoulder. Well, it looked serious so into the cat carrier he went and off to the vet. Two hours, and $420 later, he was patched up and we said "OK, Orange Cat, you are now an indoor cat." Here's one picture showing him with his "boo-boo" a few days after surgery and, in the other picture, you can see he has settled into my office. By the way, he is now Rusty.

Sad story for me, but will be coin related. We like Shih Tzu's - have had them for decades. When Covid started we had three- Hera (16 yrs old)- the mother, Lenny (14 yrs old) - son from first litter, and Pixel (12 yrs old) - a tiny little guy from the second litter.
I can't post photos as I am trying to move on. Anyway, Lenny stopped eating in August 2020, vet found nothing wrong. We had to euthanize him on 9/11/20. I had a once-in-a-lifetime bond with that dog. Tough decision but we made it. Hera, his mother, looked for him for weeks until her kidneys failed. We had to euthanize her in early December because she wouldn't eat. Another tough choice. So now we are down to little Pixel. I notice he had labored breathing in February. Long story short, he needed surgery but he did not survive it. We were devastated, our house is now silent for the first time in 16 years. Tough to lose three dogs in 5 months. To help the healing process, I decided to buy some coins in their memory - this is a work in process.
Here is the coin I bough in Pixel's memory. Pixel was a tiny guy (6 lbs) but big and bold when he needed to be. I figured this gold dollar would be a great tribute. PCGS AU55 CAC

Lenny was easy. He was a smart "pretty boy" and always the center of attention. I bought a gold 2006 $50 Buffalo in PCGS 70 Dcam. You all know what those look like and Lenny would be happy with that choice as it fits him to a "70".
Hera is a tougher choice that I am still working on. She had two great litters and was the perfect mother to all 11 pups until they left the house or we kept them. She was a tough old 'gal and wouldn't take any crap from the big dogs next door or anyone else for that matter. Imagine a 12 lb Shih Tzu chasing off a golden retriever! Right now, I am thinking of a $20 Liberty with some age on it and some crusty battle scars. Been looking for months for the right coin.
To end on a more positive note - thanks for bearing with me for the sad stuff - we decided to get another puppy. We looked for a Shih Tzu rescue for a few weeks, but we couldn't bear not having a furry friend in the house any longer. We found what we were looking for a 6 weeks ago and brought him home. Now - what to name him? We overdid the naming thing with plenty of suggestions, but ultimately landed on Loki - Norse god of mischief. Fits him perfectly. Imagine a household with a 6 pound rocket propelled dog and two 65+ humans. What fun for all of us!
Today was a big day - Loki finally got a chance to go to the groomer for an initial trim. He loved all the attention.
So here is Loki - I hope he lives long and gives us as much happiness as our previous dogs. Best photo the wife could muster as he rarely sits still.

Kyle here had a blue left eye and a brown right eye. That might be a sign of high intelligence as he was the smartest dog we've ever had. He was a rescue that we got from the local Humane Society in 1995. He died in 2007. He was one helluva dog.
Losing three dogs in five months would be very tough. It's bad enough to lose two in two years.
Sorry for your losses...yeah all of us have been there....but their memory and letting go your grief is so important.....and look at Loki he's the right Rx to get your head right! No he'll never replace any dog....but He will be a new adventure ,and Thank you in his behalf as rescues are so special... they know that you are their hero....you gave them a shot to live in a forever home.
And I applaud you for doing so....wishing you and Loki many trips around the sun.

Our pets are our kids...we don't have any kids..... they are family....my Vet refers to my two as "the kids" as Rachel knows they are my kids.... and both of them have nic names.... baby cakes & Bogus.....and both are sweet and full of shenanigans.
Now Bogie could care less about toys....he's more into finding the next bed to lay down....he sleeps everywhere....baby cakes loves her pretty bone!
Its a dumbbell shaped rubber bone and its special.....its getting hard to get on the bed with it in her mouth.....whats so funny she runs by him sporting her pretty bone...to show it off toying with him....he's like I dont care....im going to go stink up one of your beds ....baby cakes!
Since my surgery Darby aka baby cakes ....has been my night nurse....she has watched over me for a month. Im sure had anything went wrong she be raising hell till the wife came....no doupt at all.

Though Scripture does not deal directly with our pets in heaven, let's not forget Scripture does reference Christs return on a white horse.; Revelation 19:11. Also, Scripture does say the Lord is aware of even the smallest sparrow which falls (my paraphrase). Additionally, God created animals, birds, fish, etc. before He created man.
So, are our pets in Heaven, I'm betting (faith and hope) we see them again.
Six of our babies have gone before these two. Yep, planning on a big reunion!!!
I pity the fool who ever raises a hand to hurt a dog or cat...or any animal,on purpose... in my field of vision....as the next voice after mine telling them to stop...will be that of St.Peters!
Unfortunately I am the type who doesn't look away....I will never surrender....and take no prisoners!
