Why does Legend use HiBid?

I don't know where else to ask this.
I don't understand why Legend uses such a low rent service full of scam artists. I signed up with HiBid to bid on a single item in the recent Regency auction (didn't win, but at least I bumped it up for winesteven).
Now other crap auction houses that also use HiBid like Gold Standard Auction are spamming my inbox.

Doesn't Legend have the resources to bring their auctions in house?
17.5% buyers premium on top of whatever consignment rates they charge, with the sales volume they do, they should leave them enough cash to hire a web developer.

There’s usually an unsubscribe link. I use them all the time

Well...we could charge an extra 2.5% and spend the money on software....or we can continue as is .

I mean no disrespect to any of the folks at Legend (actually I admire all of you).
A lot of quality dealers/auction houses have my contact info, but I still have to use the unsubscribe feature on many who get my info from wherever.
I don't like that I have to do that, and I have no idea if they still keep my info to sell to others after unsubscribing.
And another 2.5% of Legends haul would by a Rhode Island (I think that's the right unit of measurement) of developers and software. That's not needed, you don't need to reinvent the wheel. An independent, competent presence is not that expensive.

That is the weirdest sales pitch for a management consulting contract EVER >:)

You can turn off the "spam" from Hi-bid. I'm signed up. A local auction house uses it as well. I don't get any spam.

A small operation like Legend really shouldn't need to bring all of that technology in-house. It makes perfect sense for them to farm out the internet bidding.
