Me too, that's why I haven't pulled the trigger. Plus, it's overpriced.

Overpriced and cleaned looking hopefully (at least) makes your decision an easy one.

I'm torn when I come across a coin like this. On one hand, I ask myself how many DBD's are out there still with an ANACS photo certificate? On the other hand, I ask myself do I really want to drop a few grand on a problem coin.

If I really had to have it, as you do. I would offer them 50% of the asking price and explain the obvious proof that it’s been cleaned and that the value has dropped even below 50%.
Might still be an ANACs graded coin because it wouldn't straight grade as a crossover. I wouldn't be tempted.

Most of these I see offered are "genuine". It would have to be very inexpensive to interest me.
Overpriced if for that grade and overcleaned means put it back in your pants before you get into any trouble uh, pass.
Subtract the value of a cleaned XF from the price tag, and that's what you'd be paying for a certificate. I'd be out when that number exceeds $50.

I would certainly take the advice offered here before buying that coin....No sense in paying premiums for material that produces an immediate loss. Cheers, RickO
I am going to take the contrarian point of view. I say figure out what it would sell for at open auction and figure if losing 1k$ is worth filling the spot for 10 years until a better one comes along. If you are buying for profit it doesn't make sense but if you are collecting rare stuff losing a few buck on some and making some on others is ok.

Agree, it depends on how serious you are about your quest for your anacs photo cert set. This might be your only chance, and even if another, coin comes up, is it likely to be better?
The coin might not make 40 but certainly better details than 30. Not seeing horrible cleaning, not perfect surfaces but would need to get much better pictures or better tilt in light to know.

this really boils down to price. it is a soft xf imo. that banner/wing wear and the obv shoulder drapery line.
find out whom owns and and if not on ebay, try to see if they have wiggle room granted i have no idea what the ask is. perhaps a small premium is warranted for a potentially scarce item.
good to discuss it here and work out the kinks.
