Vintage silver bar question

I recently came across what I believe to be an extremely rare vintage silver bar. It is from the American Platinum Works which was one of the companies which formed Engelhard. The bar is 8.7 oz stamp .9995. I've never seen one before and can't seem to locate any information on the bars sold by the company. I'm guessing this was for use in industrial applications. Let me know if you can shed light on this piece?

No. The weight is not on the bar.
