Which dealer should I call to sell my coin collection to?

It is composed of the following , all in old ANACS holders 20 and all colorful, need to raise monies:
Morgans all higher grades
Two Peace Dollars w/ huge laminations, and one plate coin found on the VAM World site in higher grade
Liberty Seated Quarters all higher grades

List them with a price you would accept on the BST.

Just remember the dreaded capital gains tax since you may get a 1099. But with what you’ve described I would recommend consigning with DLRC or Great Collections.
Top dollar or quick sell? GC is a good option as others have mentioned, if you don't mind taking a gamble on what the coins will go for. It will still take a while to get paid.
If you want quick cash, I can recommend gerry fortin for the seated quarters. He specializes in seated coins. His buy prices are quite fair when I have dealt with him.

It partly depends on time frame. If you need the money immediately, auction houses won't be useful.

BST is my suggestion.
Look at Ebay sold for ANACS and subtract 30% for fees, shipping, consignment.
That would be a good starting point for the Morgans.

You can sell directly to DLRC I believe. Do not have to do the auction. BST is also great. Past year I have given up on the bay and only buy there

My advice is to consign them or sell them directly to Gerry Fortin. The Seated Qtrs especially will be in demand on his site if they are nice.
great collections will most likely net you the most and be the least amount of stress. Any dealer that would beat them would most likely require built equity with them which by the mere fact you are asking for one, means you don't have.
The BST is good if the coins are in strong demand but with whole collections you will get cherry picked and left with the scraps.

No offense, but if he's talking about toners, only an auction might unlock the value. BST is not a good suggestion unless he needs immediate cash and you folks feel like overpaying for color.

I also would recommend Gerry Fortin. I have sold some duplicate type coins through him not just seated material and he is direct and straight forward with his offers. I have been more than happy with what he is willing to pay compared to large firms with more overhead.
I don't understand this math. If you're looking at ebay prices, fees are 10%. If you're consigning somewhere else, then it is because you expect to achieve more than the ebay price.

I see he has toners, so my advice is wrong.
For sure go the consignment route.

Call great collections and ask about the advance payments if you need cash asap. If you can wait a month then I'd still go GC.

Also if it sells over $1,000 there is no, that's NO selling fees at GC.
You have nothing to loose by putting them up on the BST here on the forum. It’s free and members are easy to deal with. If they don’t sell quickly enough then consign the seated material to GFRC and the rest to CRO, @coinlieutenant or Legend.
Maybe Gerry will designate some of your coins from the Osprey Collection which he has been selling for a long long time.

Selling them with a false provenance wouldn't engender confidence.
Perhaps the Osprey Collection owner could purchase them?
Alternately, they could be sold as the TrueBlood Collection.

That is not the case here. True blood has been sharing some new purchases that are rare and expensive here on the forum. He has also been asking to buy higher graded proof Trade Dollars on the BST section. This isn’t an inexperienced member who inherited his Dads coin collection and doesn’t know what he has. Selling here on the BST section has worked very well for myself and I believe would work well for him... Again I don’t see much downside trying to sell them here for free for a few days. If no one is interested then move them elsewhere.
I know he's an experienced collector. But the fact that he asked for advice regarding where to sell, indicates to me that he would likely benefit from assistance in pricing the coins for direct sale or in consigning to a dealer or auction house.
Many forum members suggest the BST to potential sellers. And in lots of cases, it might be among the best options. However, even if there's no transaction cost, that doesn't necessarily mean the seller will net the most that way.

Mark is right. Problem with most collectors when they sell is they actually over price their “stuff” and under price their gems. A place like the BST will quickly sort which is which leaving the uninclined with a pile of stuff left that will still need to be liquidated but with none of the good stuff left. Not a power position
Selling at a low fee house allows you to get the upside of the gems which can make a big difference to the wholesale of the bulk
Not everybody has the moxie to walk a box around the floor effectively

If mostly seated quarters, Gerry Fortin is your best bet. He pays a fair (wholesale) price for an outright purchase. The ANACS holders will mean a discount on PCGS pricing. Doesn't mean they aren't cool/legit coins, just how the marketplace treats the various TPG holders. Good luck!
