Can't believe "I bought the plastic" lol

I've been working on a Morgan date set (dansco 7171 but in slabs lol) And i've been trying to get good VAMs or PL especialy for the common dates... Well a good 84 has been eluding me when i found this one.. bad scan rather then a pic, but a dealer I've had good luck with previously... He told me I wouldn't be disapointed and sold it to me 3/4s list price... (coin was at shop and he is attending a show so couldn't get a better pic quick) so with these pics I'm basicly buying the grade on the plastic... We'll see how I make out next week when it arrives
Would you take the chance?

Looks a bit hazy, like pvc fog.
Or, it may possibly have been puttied. Hard to tell from those pics.

Think it’s bad photo but mirrors could be hazy
Can you trust your dealer
Blurry photos.
It does not look PL to me.
These older holders are very hit and miss with PL. The standards were much more lax than they are today.

Really cannot judge the coin from those pictures, so you are placing your trust in the dealer. Good luck and be sure to show us good pictures when you get the coin...Cheers, RickO
Yes, trusting the dealer, trusting the plastic taking a "small" risk in my book as the price is low enough (2/3s list) that in the worst case i don't like the coin I 99% positive i can get my money back... and back to the very begining... It's coming from a dealer i do trust.. so we'll see
As for PVC fog... In a sealed PCGS holder, with an MS grade? not very likely. The blue grey fog is something I've learned to identify as a highly reflective surface. If you've ever attempted to photograph a mirror bright coin you know what i mean

Likely or not it has happened before, not saying that is the case here but its certainly possible with any TPG coin. I would have passed from those photos unless I could see it in hand prior to purchase.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Ok maybe it is possible, I have never seen it though. And yeah as much as im trusting the grade on the plastic I turst this dealer when he tells me I won't be disapointed. Also since he's at a show this weekend and couldn't get to the coin to send me a better pic until sunday night he offerd me a price I couldn't say no to
so in a few days we will see if a lil trust pays off for me

This was my first thought as well. Some of the PLs and even DMPLs wouldn’t receive designations today.
It’s a really nice coin and holder for the grade but I’m not seeing a proof-like.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

If it's a dealer you trust, and he says you won't be disappointed, and you're getting (what you consider) a discount, then can you please explain how you're buying "the plastic"? I'd consider it sight unseen from a trusted source.
Sounds like you’ve got a relationship with the dealer and will be made whole, regardless. I hope he’s right about you not being disappointed. It also sounds like he knows your collection well enough to have a decent guess.
I'm of the opinion based on the photos and comments the OP made he is correct and the coin will be a nice PL.
Very much NOT disapointed

Obv is PL no doubt, the Rev however puts it to shame DMPL in my book
took over 30 shots to get these 2, the reflextion was real hard to deal with
