Nags, That is not the purchase price. The coin started at that price or best offer. I offered more than the starting price and the seller accepted. EBay shows the wrong price.
Thx for the clarification! So were 2 planchets struck together after 1 already had the reverse struck on it, which then incused it on that pictured side? Trying to figure out the mechanics of it all. Thx!

No. Just one planchet invold. The faint Bell image is from the bell reverse die and shows thru on the back of the reverse split-off layer.
Magician coins are milled. This one split on its own after the strike.
If it was split on its own after strike, why is the rim edge complete? I feel Fred made an error and DBSTrader2 is correct - a struck through capped die error
I have a raw one similar with 1967 Canadian cent, but does not show so much of design after split.

What does something like that run?
Has not been priced or listed yet. Probably $1K to 1.2 K.
That's different. Real nice!
At that price, I'm going to be able to pay for a new milling machine real quick! Am taking orders....
Nice example. I have a Jeff. nickel and silver Roos. silver Dime split.
Very interesting.... Never saw one in real life, so thanks for the excellent pictures. Cheers, RickO

Here we go again.
One thing you can say is that the reverse is a type 1 - the switch to type 2 occurred during 1956.

It ‘s a very cool coin. I’ve seen other series/denominations, but I don’t recall ever having seen a Franklin half dollar.
Got it!!

Why wouldn’t it have a complete rim if split after strike? It does, as it should.
It is a split planchet and would be extremely obvious in hand, since it likely weighs less than half of a normal silver half dollar.
rims don't split? why?
Marketing and Promotion ..... I thought you guys would find this interesting.
