So Mercsperts....Are non-FSB's mostly from poor strike or filled dies? I've seen some otherwise hammered pieces just missing parts of those horizontal bands. And those splits are just sooooo tiny it would take just the most microscopic piece of shmutz to cause the "damage"
Philately will get you nowhere....

Most of the ones I have seen are from wear or hits.....No doubt others exist for the causes you stated. Cheers, RickO
I get it. Both Mercury and Lincoln are/were made by the Ford Motor Company.
