It's a great site. Looking forward to it. I like Eureka's idea of making it a permanent site.

Timing potentially edges up against Baltimore (spring 2022 dates not yet posted by Whitman), but I suppose that happens every year.

Interesting, since one of the "rules" about show locations was a very strong preference with site with no sales tax.

The State exempts coins and bullion - https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/sites/default/files/Sales60.pdf - but the Springs is a home rule city and taxes coins and bullion sales at 3.07%.

Less than an hour ride on the motorcycle for me
Closer to an hour in the car lol.
How do we recognize each other? Should I add 'Kurisu' to my name tag? Maybe I'll get a custom shirt lol

We had snow a week ago here in Denver...but the rest of the week was 70's and then 80's for the last couple days  Typical stuff here.

    Actually...
Retail sales of bullion and coins are not subject to state sales taxes in Colorado. The section of the law titled "Sales Tax Exemptions for Coins and Precious Metal Bullion" directly states that such sales of coin and bullion are exempt from the state sales tax rate of 2.9%. This exemption extends to local and county sales taxes, as well. The law exempts coins that are, or have been used as legal tender in the United States or any other nation. Bullion (gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and rhodium) is exempt if the total value of the bullion is derived only from the content of precious metals contained within the product.
Certain numismatic coins and collectibles, such as tokens and jewelry, do not fall under this exemption, as they do not meet either of the definitions above.

@edwardjulio That 1-800 number does not work. Should that be a 1-719 number?

I called headquarters and the person I spoke with suggested that perhaps the Broadmoor is simply not booking rooms that far out. I have seen that happen with other events. THe person I spoke with said that they would check and get back to me. I will let you know what I hear from them.

@Kurisu read what I posted - HOME RULE Cities (and Colorado Springs is one) are exempt from the state-wide rules.

For example, Hallenbeck Coin Gallery which is located there explicitly says they charge the 3.07% local tax.

https://www.hallenbeckcoingallery.com/buy-from-us/#:~:text=Sales Tax,on all sales in Colorado.

Well Colorado is one of these states which has a whole lot of home rule cities, 70+ of them!
I'm not a coin seller and these home rule taxes are basically local retail sales taxes.
I was a retail manager for many years here and depending on where you shop for clothes (for example) you're paying anywhere from about 1% to almost 8% sales tax in Colorado!

But the way I read the rules for Colorado I believe that coins and bullion sellers/retailers should not be having the home rule sales tax added on to those particular items since state laws take precedence...and/or possibly buyers can file with the city to be refunded?

Well then these dealers owe me a lot of taxes... They charge the tax in CO springs on coins and bullion.

    special sales tax exemption?

It's not outside the city (10 min from my home) and unless there is a special exemption it seems the tax would apply? Maybe ANA has an exemption planned?

    AWESOME !

When I was a kiddo with a car I would hit this show every other year back in the 80's. All the important dealers would come to my town every other year.

Back then I had no clue how special this event was for me, the dude who never travels more than 70 miles from home to attend a coin show.

I think we're at 2.3 % state tax on coins. If its round and die struck, all is good. Currency are Not Coins.

ALL Better than 9% including additional shipping fees that also get ebay taxed which I routinely get hit with via flea-bay.
