    How do you know it's not real? Looks like someone swapped the coin but kept the holder inserts.

    Can't tell from the coin but either it's a fake or perhaps a typo?

    There is no way in H-E double hockey sticks that coin gets an MS grade.

    Even Stevie Wonder knows better.

    I am not a krugerrand expert but seems like those are pretty easy to ID as fake just because they are the wrong color.

    Counterfeit slab with real insert from a crackout? I hate it when people are scammed this way. It would be ideal if everyone knew what MS64 looked like and all but still.

    Edit, shows another reason why having TV be the coin + having available slab images can be a great anti-scam tool for PCGS.

    Cert check shows this is clearly not the right coin. NGC also warns of "Possible counterfeit holder" so it appears they know these are out there with this cert number.

    Hmmm...doesn’t look like a fake slab. I agree that the coin was swapped out. Hard to tell from the images how well the slab was resealed. After looking more, the prongs are suspect.

    Admittedly the hologram is the most convincing part. But next to a real slab, you can see the texture is different. In the picture it looks pretty good.

    Even the color of the slab plastic is different than a real slab.

    Thanks asheland, this was one of the most interesting and educational post I've seen here.

    I have K-rands, all BU and just butt-ugly IMHO, and it never occurred to me to get them graded and encapsulated. They are bullion.

    They have a "feel" to them, which is easy to learn. Gold is heavy. I don't know how one would feel in plastic.

    They do. I’ve had slabbed coins scanned through the plastic.
