Has anyone been sent to US Mint collections for a coin that they returned?
I am struggling with this right now... I have been a US mint customer for years. Never had a problem. All the sudden I get a letter about an order that was back in December that I owe the US mint for a coin I retuned and they received!! I have an email that that they received it... I was refunded.
Thanks

I never return anything.
But, if you've got the tracking and the letter, it's probably just a little inconvenience as they sort out their records.
They sent me the wrong product.. Thats why I returned it..
And this is why I'd never buy an unopened box from a third party. You just never know what's inside unless you open it.

never knew it existed.
the letter probably came from HQ people. Look on the Return Addr. on the envelope.
The HQ people don't mess around. Get your documentation together now.
So now you need to copy your email and refund invoice and send that back with a copy of the letter so they can see and compare everything! Sounds like a lot of rigmarole.
if they ship only after payment, I'm wondering why they need a collections person unless they take checks from bulk buyers.
you pay, they ship. you return, they refund or replace. document what is likely their mistake.
there was no CC chargeback, right?
Nope I paid through Paypal, they refunded through paypal..
I’ve already had twice within the past month where they ship my coins without billing for them. Then they put my account on hold and send me a letter that I can either send the coins back or pay for them. When I call back in and tell them to reauthorize the charges it is quite the headache before they actually charge them and take my account off of the hold and ship my new purchases again.
I NEVER BUY ANYTHING DIRECTLY FROM THE MINT ANYMORE - NO EXCEPTIONS.
My blood pressure is down and it is one less thing I have to deal with. They lost my business years ago with their poor designs and ineptitude with ordering.
Should they happen to make something I have to have, which hasn't happened yet, I'll simply buy it on the secondary market with no drama.
There, I feel much better.

I think this is a new form of train wreck.
I have sent two emails with documentation attached, sent a hard copy of all documentation once and called US Mint customer service twice with no call back. No email back, only letters from the US Mint saying I owe them money...
are you mailing all of this stuff to washington dc and calling a 202-xxx-yyyy number?
(I've got a couple of returns to send in. it is in my best interest to see this through.)
Yes I did all to the DC address and to the email address on the letters . The lady I talked to today, Kelly was very good and understanding. She said someone would call me next week..
She also said that the credit department was "backed up"
Apparently the folks that send letters out is not backed up..
yeah... you're dealing with mint HQ and the people there are genuine gub'Mint employees.
calling the 800# is now pointless. they have no idea what is going on. they are contractors in texas.
I love sending a fax as it is so much better at getting paper in front of the right eyes. if you can fax that stuff... get a warm body on the phone in DC that is doing the collections. get them early in the AM (many in DC work early and leave early) tell them they will get everything by fax and that YOU will call back after it was sent. call back that same day before they leave work.
Email and telephone.... Send copies by email and then hard copies if the telephone contact requests them....getting the two factions to talk can be difficult. Cheers, RickO
in this case there are 2 factions. the people in TN that do shipping and receiving of returns and the mint HQ. from what you wrote, the people in TN have refunded without marking your product return.
any update for today?
nope no calls back nothing...
any update yet?
Who's in charge ?
What's in returns?
Nothing yet, no calls, no emails ,no letters, nothing from the US mint..
Hoping well for you
Hoping they don’t credit report you
Worried for the future of returns for all of us
After three letters, each one more threating... I finally had to call my US Senator. He had his page get involved. Long story short they found the coin and sent me an email clearing my account. With a tiny "we are sorry this happened, our apologies etc"
They claim it was a warehouse problem..
What I learned, get people in Washington involved much sooner and document every phone call, every letter, everything and keep it with you throughout your day..
I may never buy from them again...
As if they would initiate a refund without a product and request.

Fax machines still exist? Isn't that ancient tech these days?
Fixed
Yes
However if they receive a ton of email, then they’ll see a fax better.
Yep but still essential in healthcare and law. It’s handled electronically often but still a fax.
Set your self free like I did about 5 years ago.
Dump the us mint, they do not care about their customers. The government only wants your tax dollars.
One less shaky seller to deal with and I sleep better at night.
I still let them waste their money sending me info in the mail (postage free for them), it instantly goes in the recycle bin unopened with a satisfied smile on my mug.
