Anyone having trouble with cert lookup this morning?

AercusAercus Posts: 381 ✭✭✭✭

Works fine on my phone but both my laptop and desktop are throwing an error message. I got a message from a customer this morning with the exact same issue. No cert # seems to work.

Just check one on my laptop and eventually it worked.
The "Cloud Fair" could be your issue as I had to wait for it to verify me. :#
If you still can't get it to work, clear your browser history.

    Working in MI.

As @WAYNEAS indicated, I had to wait for the 'Cloudflare' check too, but got through it successfully.

I cleared the issue by entering the cert directly into the url. Once I did that, everything was working normally again. Weird!

    Thanks everyone for the replies.

Not working at all. I keep getting this message "****Checking your browser before accessing pcgs.com.
This process is automatic. Your browser will redirect to your requested content shortly****."

Funny, I cannot look up anything using Mozilla Firefox 86.0.1 (my go-to default browser on my 2017 iMac) but have to use Safari instead. The pcgs.com/cert function worked fine on Firefox yesterday.

    Kind regards,

Interesting. This worked for me too on Firefox.

@TURBO rather than using the URL pcgs.com/cert and then entering the cert number, try the URL
pcgs.com/cert/NNNNNNNN where the N's are the cert number.

Just what @giorgio11 said. You type in www.pcgs.com/cert/NNNNNNNN into your browser's address bar, where the N's are your cert #. I'm not sure why this works, but it does. Since then I've had no trouble. Feels like some sort of update broke a hook somewhere. If you are getting the cloudflare stuck error, usually clearing your PCGS.com cookies will clear it.

I called them moments ago about this issue.
They told me to take a screen shot of the "Cloudflare" page and email it to the set registry at collectors universe so that it will be seen and address quickly by the IT department. :)
The only problem is that I do not have an email address to do so. :s
Anybody else want to try or has the email address?

I believe those are generated after the cloudflare check and are not necessary for a cert lookup using the "address bar" technique

@HeatherBoyd you may want to have the website folks take a look at this one. Seems to be affecting multiple people across browsers. The error we are getting is in @MsMorrisine 's screenshot above (first screen).

    Still barfs for me.
I type into the https: www.pcgs.com/cert/08010713?
It goes directly to CloudFlare and craps out.
I know that once you get pass the CloudFlare check, you can look up any cert for days at a time.
It just will not let me PASS >:)

I did speak with PCGS and they told me to provide a screen shot of the issue. I unfortunately DONOT have an email address to attach it to. I want an email address that will go directly to PCGS Set Registry and not the IT department per the instructions of the CSR I spoke to. IT will leave it in vast expanse of outer space.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No I am not. Problem: You cannot verify a cert. Follow your own thread posts in their entirety. CloudFare is the cause of the problem. Read the posts and you will see that by me sending the problem to PCGS that they resolved it. If you are only looking for a yes or no answer, so be it. CloudFare is the root cause of the issue. My responses were to @MsMorrisine.
Pm me and I will explain it to you, :) Have a nice day. :)

There was no 'hang' in my case. If you were having the same issue, then it was a case of imprecise wording that caused me to think you had a separate issue. Hanging on cloudflare verification is a very common issue with some simple fixes and was not what was happening to me. In any case, I am glad it is resolved and we can keep using this wonderful resource 🙂

No, to your response. Your issue came up with an error message, or was slow to get the verification right? I.e. the post descriptor: Anyone having trouble with cert lookup this morning?
When you stated to me: "You are getting a different issue than we are. Let's keep this thread for the issue posted above."
that you open up your self to criticism. No malice meant on my part. When you state negativity expect negativity in return.
A simple sorry, misunderstood or don't understand your post would suffice or just plain ignore what was said.

Received a nice email from the set registry on the fixing of the CloudFlare issue.
They also provided some information that could possibly be causing some of the issues that we are experiencing.

    Hello Wayne,

Thank you for contacting PCGS Set Registry and for the screenshot

By chance are you using a bookmarked URL maybe you pinned the PCGS and/or PCGS Set Registry browser shortcut to your home screen? If so, may I recommend opening a whole new browser/tab as there have been security updates to the site (as you can tell)

Please let me know the results or we can continue to troubleshoot

I look forward to hearing from you 😊

    Best Regards

    My reply:

    Problem is fixed and thanks.
Yes I do use a shortcut to access the Pcgs Home page and then the coin verification listed on this page. I will delete it and resave a new one.

    A happy customer :)
