Mint set medallions

YorkshiremanYorkshireman Posts: 4,603 ✭✭✭✭✭

I came across about a dozen each of the P & D copper penny sized medallions.
Any value there?
What should I do with them?

Didn’t those come with Mint Sets?

Yes, but somebody cut them out.
Pretend they’re pennies and spend them?

I don't know they look pretty cool why not just hold on them for display?

You could offer them on the BST.... that forum reaches a wide variety of collectors. Cheers, RickO

So that's what they are called. Medallions. I put a few of them in 2x2's just recently and I didn't have the slightest idea what to label them as. Timely. Thanks!

Will the coinstar machine accept them as a cent? I have a lot of them and was thinking about just mixing them in with the stuff in the change jar destined for coinstar.

I do see them on Ebay. No idea how hot a seller they are.

I believe they are minted on cent planchets. :*

Give some to kids starting to collect. They will think that they are pretty cool. I have one of each in 2x2s just to have them, but I don't think there is rally any significant value.

I like the big mint medals... I carry a Denver Mint medal as one of my pocket pieces.

Very neat, people would probably buy them.
