Torn between two lovers: I love them both and have been buying both. Which do prefer and why? Have read many articles but want to hear from this forum.

    I prefer Morgans... just a throwback to when I was a kid.

    They are both very similar, large, silver, dollar, classic design, tones well.

    I consider the Silver Eagle to be the modern Morgan Dollar because of the above.

    I will say that Silver Eagles are generally cheaper but can spot.

    I am having a harder time parting with my Morgans than my eagles they were the first to go and very quickly. But then again sometimes the things you have the hardest time parting with are the things you need the least.... so hmmmm I guess I am not able to answer your question. What was it again?

    agreed I am stacking silver. admit a new eagle pleases me more than a worn Morgan or an ms65 Morgan. A toned Morgan of any year makes me horney

    Morgans are interesting and have lots of variety and history . Eagles i find boring and are all pretty much the same to me. If you are stacking though does it really matter?

    For stacking; I prefer Silver Eagles.

    For history, rarity and numismatic value; I much prefer Morgans.

    I'm the guy who would never spend thousands on a low-mintage, MS or PF 70 Silver Eagle.

    Morgan dollars are real collectables coins with history behind them. Silver eagles are just bullion. That shouldn't be a big decision.

    Morgans are HISTORY. ASEs are just something to stack.

    I'm old enough to have received my original 3 Morgans in commerce in my late teens. I was clerking in a 7-11in Texas in 1976 and some guy comes in and buys a case of beer with them. I immediately took 3 paperbacks out of my wallet for the register and 3 went into my pocket. Decades later I still have them. All 3 are pretty common dates. However, the way I acquired them in historical commerce has always been special to me.
