Yeesh, I'm going to have to pay this guy a bit more money...

Going through bulk rolls of BU Morgans when suddenly... Also it is apparently a VAM 5, so-called O/S, which goes for a bit of a premium too. Time to check the rest of this roll.

Well struck for an O.
Cool!
I think you mean O/O , O/S is for the 82. When I first looked at the reverse I was wondering why it wasn't a rusted die. However nice looking coin and still HitList40 and cool VAM. I like the roll toning also. Congrats on find.
Sweet!!
it does look like an O/S ....
Luster?
Yes, it's technically an O/O, but it was once thought to be an O/S, hence "so-called".

What type of deal did you have? I'm not sure I would pay more until the coin is graded, if that is your intentions.
Nice color, too!!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

What a nice find! Congrats.
Thanks all. I am pretty excited to see this in a holder.
It definitely has luster. These images were axial to capture every last bit of the color. I would call it a 63.
3% back of wholesale for about 13 rolls of Morgans. I basically got 3% to sort them for wholesale.

Nice!

I paid around $125

81-O VAM 5 is an O/O, having received the "so-called O/S" name thanks in part to Breen. Having inspected many of these, including some EDS prooflike specimens, I can unhesitatingly declare Breen was wrong. @CaptHenway is credited with the coin's discovery in 1974. I'm not sure how it was cataloged then, as I don't have a 2nd edition VAM book (1976) handy.
The OP coin seems to be missing its luster. Hopefully, it's just the photo.

Very nice indeed👍
Nice find.... Always a thrill to come upon the unexpected when going through coins... A rare and special feeling when that 'something' pops up.... Cheers, RickO
