of Proof sisters separated by 30 years.

One was acquired at the end of 2020, the other is from earlier this month. Both were saved from the obscurity courtesy of the Internet, as usual :)

I don't think either of those are proof examples...

I trust Dan’s eye over the internet. I would bet cash on them being what he says they are with them in hand. The Morgan is clearly a proof and the rims say proof on the seated too although I would need to look up the date placements to be sure

First blush, I'd be skeptical too, though knowing Stealer, they're proof. I'd be more confident on the Morgan, yet the Seated has proof features also (rims and stars), although both are impaired, I'd guess. Neat coins, especially at the price I am sure Stealer paid for them!

Wow, I would have never thought. Good to still learn new things once in awhile.

Morgan become almost 3D when proof. The denticals and cheek are almost never replicated on PL or DMPLs

Seated dollars are a completely different story.

    Thanks for all the comments!

I will say the Morgan was pretty non-obvious based on the seller's photos, it doesn't look very reminiscent of any of the raw other proof Morgan's I've handled. That did lead me to learn that 1902 was the year the mint changed their proof making process though (thanks CoinFacts) which is cool.

The Morgan has some pretty gnarly toning that might benefit from a dip, but it's at least UNC in the technical sense of the term.
The Seated as others have noted is impaired and probably a PR53 on a bad and a PR55 on a good day. The reverse is pretty much all there as UNC, not that anyone really cares in these grades.

I'll take your word and what others have stated so far... but I can't help think on that Morgan the hair above the ear and breast feathers would be much sharper. Are they flat from circulation?

that morgan is interesting. you don't see any clashing, die markers, it has nice even obv/rev strike through devices. a good place to start. :)

    gratz stealer. :)

I like the Seated as a proof, but not so much the Morgan. Interesting pair!

In hand it definitely has a weaker strike than most proofs, I will say that the breast feathers are quite well-defined but very much obscured by the dark toning :)

    Update on this:

    Seated $1 graded PR53
Morgan $1 graded PR UNC details (cleaned) as it indeed is.
