1880 CC Morgan Counterfeit

Another day, another counterfeit. This one has the copy stamp on it on the reverse, but is being sold as authentic and no mention of it being a counterfeit or replica coin. Also the fake toning is a dead giveaway that its a counterfeit as well. Could we get this one taken down?
Can someone post pics as well for future education purposes

Idk, i'm torn. yes i hate fakes and sellers of fakes, but it has "copy" stamped on it. If somebody gets ripped off on this one, they did it to themselves.
it is nice that the item has copy on it but still against ebay listing policy.
fwiw, the word COPY on this "coin" does not conform to the HPA standards.
Should be at least correct in item specifics which it is not
Al
and I agree "copy" should be a sign but new collectors get burned and I hate to see that.
Reported.
There are two (or were) up on ebay today. I messaged both sellers one replied the other did not. I see that ebay took this one down. I reported both 80cc's.

Why is that?
if you are referring to the HPA comment and not the ebay policy comment. i read through it (HPA) and a couple other laws (not HPA) regarding coins, currency, tokens, medals etc and the define explicitly how, where, style of lettering (iirc) and more about how COPY is to be presented. i presume for continuity.
you can find this online but i and others have discussed it here a few times at least for anyone interested.
a couple/few years back they updated it part/whole to include especially the importing of non-conforming numismatic related items.
§304.6 Marking requirements for imitation numismatic items.
(a) An imitation numismatic item which is manufactured in the United States, or imported into the United States for introduction into or distribution in commerce, shall be plainly and permanently marked “COPY”.
(b) The word “COPY” shall be marked upon the item legibly, conspicuously, and nondeceptively, and in accordance with the further requirements of these regulations.
(1) The word “COPY” shall appear in capital letters, in the English language.
(2) The word “COPY” shall be marked on either the obverse or the reverse surface of the item. It shall not be marked on the edge of the item.
(3) An imitation numismatic item of incusable material shall be incused with the word “COPY” in sans-serif letters having a vertical dimension of not less than two millimeters (2.0 mm) or not less than one-sixth of the diameter of the reproduction, and a minimum depth of three-tenths of one millimeter (0.3 mm) or to one-half ( 1⁄2 ) the thickness of the reproduction, whichever is the lesser. The minimum total horizontal dimension of the word “COPY” shall be six millimeters (6.0 mm) or not less than one-half of the diameter of the reproduction.
(4) An imitation numismatic item composed of nonincusable material shall be imprinted with the word “COPY” in sans-serif letters having a vertical dimension of not less than two millimeters (2.0 mm) or not less than one-sixth of the diameter of the reproduction. The minimum total horizontal dimension of the word “COPY” shall be six millimeters (6.0 mm) or not less than one-half of the diameter of the reproduction.
These? I'm still not sure why it doesn't meet the requirement.
As for ebay, they do not allow replica, copy, reproductions or counterfeit coins, period.
Even if marked..........not allowed.

i didn't read through A+ effort but either i made a mistake or they changed the language as i thought for sure the lettering must be raised.
it seems to be in accordance with that language and i'm glad you posted it for posterity.
I was just confused. I also don't know if there are other laws involved.
Not that it matters to me. LOL. I find the word "copy" to be more distracting than the fact that it is counterfeit.
there are others besides the HPA governing numismatics.
@LanceNewmanOCC wow that was very interesting to learn about the HPA rules, I wasnt aware this one was even violating those rules! Either way its down for now.
@AUandAG its down now! thanks for all your help!
Listing is gone, thank you for the pictures. Good for educational purposes for the less experienced. Cheers, RickO
