You should buy them. Although I'd expect the strike to be better on something graded this high, IMO.

You already have a BST post. Is it really necessary to post here as well?

It is one of 4 or 5 in the highest grade ever given over the 75 years stretch of the series. It has as much or more eye appeal than the others I have seen. One can have a difference of opinion on my statement but I don’t think it my assertion can be rejected out of hand.
Have you seen all of the 66+’s?

Well, I must have thought it possibly helpful to try for more exposure. Besides, I have done nothing wrong. If you feel otherwise, that is your prerogative. I, myself, would not object to someone else making such a post.

As the other commenter pointed out, strike should be better for such a high grade.

Don’t rain on my parade. Take it up with our hosts if you have a complaint.

The strike is amazing in hand. I think the toning (which is spectacular) blurs the quality of the strike a bit.

only complaint is your comment that this is the nicest in existence. But, best wishes with your sale - didn’t realize it was yours until I read the other comments.

    I stated it could be.
It certainly is in the top 5 graded.
I have seen 2 others. IMO, this one has superior eye appeal.

Come on, you must realize it was in bad taste. You know there are at least 3 others that have coins consigned to the sale who followed the rules of not posting self-promotion posts on this forum and instead did it on BST.

  • YorkshiremanYorkshireman Posts: 4,493 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Self promotion, yes.
    Newsworthy items, yes
Bad taste, I don’t think so.

If I broke a “rule”, I apologize to our hosts.

Well, since you asked, the top one probably isn’t original and looks dipped because it’s too white for a coin that old.
The toning on the bottom one is splotchy.
The reverse, in my opinion, isn’t eye appealing in any way.

    If I didn't have the other XF40 1776 S 8R I might have made a run at yours.

Hope someone makes a run at it tomorrow.

    No.

    That was uncalled for.
Between the two, I’d rather have mine.
That has nothing to do with why I’m selling it.

    You’re lecturing me on manners?
Actually, I think those folks who berated me over this are far from dignified.
    IMO, I have nothing undignified.
Here are the facts: I showed a coin that is 1 of 5 with the highest assigned grade for the type and said it could be the prettiest of the 5. It is being sold in auction. I wanted to spread that news. I see nothing wrong with that. Then others got their feelings hurt.
Let’s just end this now before Someone comes out to post something regrettable.

    Finis

I'm being deliberately obtuse as I run down the clock to the auction on a coin that I have been trying to sell on these forums for over 2 years.

Let’s just end this now before someone comes out to post something regrettable. But not "end it" as in I will remove the original post and request mods to delete this thread entirely, but "end it" as in I will have the last word and play a victim.

    Finis?

    Fixed it for you.

    Roman,
I can not believe you are childish enough to edit someone’s post in such a way.
    How old are you? 12?
Those were not my words or my intention.
You really have too much time on your hands.
