This is what I think of when I think Proof Walker. With so many dipped out coins running around in PF-68 holders, this is what they SHOULD look like! This is Godzilla!

It is a great look. A remember a dealer in Michigan had a set of these ( personal collection) that all had this look maybe minus the 36

I would love to see those. I had a 1938 back in the day, NGC 68 and it had the exact toning, unfortunately I sold it in like 1993...DUMB! You can't get these...They are simply, not available. If they are, I would like to know where!
Love that original look. I've seen some SMS Kennedy half dollars take on that toning too.
It was one of my favorites. Owned it for 15+ years. Sold it through Legend Auctions in 2017.
When I had the #2 or#3 registry set he was like #6 or #7. Not sure if he still has them up. James Hagglund

I'd describe a lot of that as haze and not toning.
One guy's haze is another guy's superb original toning. I checked the auction record on the above piece. Here it is:

I also describe it as much as haze as toning, but it is original to the packaging and when it is on pristine surfaces and is formed as exquisitely as it is on this coin then it is truly superb. The coin is wonderful.

Well, it's like a barn find 427 Shelby Cobra, that's been sitting for 50 years, and it's got some rust on the chrome, it's got dirt on it, and the seats are a bit crunchy and cracked....Untouched, and as-is.
Pass, it's just not for me at this time. It just don't look right to me

Seems like quite a few like the coin while some don't agree this is what coins should look like. Hard to get everyone to agree.
I'd need to see the OP coin in hand. The photos make it appear a bit hazy as others have said.
This one is the same grade as the OP coin, PCGS MS68+ POP 8/1 CAC.
Wonderful example...happy to see it’s avoided a dip to give it the fresh, just minted look.

edited to add- looks as if coin #2 was in a Wayte Raymond type proof set holders... Perhaps even the op coin was in one as well

If "cello toning" is a legit thing, put me in the Philistine camp. I think that looks awful. If I didn't acetone it, I'd have chucked it into the melt bucket.

I think it would be good to see a video of that coin. I've seen Ikes tone like that, and sometimes that blue "haze" can really pop when turned into the light. As long as it doesn't make the coin excessively dull, it's good in my book!

I would like to see the pictured proof Walker in hand to decide if it appeals to me or not.
I usually do not like haze on proof coin, however there are exceptions.
I have a 1964 proof half that has frosted devices and creamy pearlescent white toning. It's eye appeal is fantastic.
Sticker + color regardless of origin = $$$$$$$

I enjoy the opinions here! That's why I posted the coin up....To see what you all thought. I love it, other's are ready to melt it...We all have different eyes, and that's what makes the world an interesting place. While I love toners, I also totally appreciate the look of a blast white coin like this common date 1943 in ms 66+.
As a few have noted the hazy look is not one that I would gravitate towards.
