Bust Half Dollar Collectors: I feel like this 1823 deserves a second look.

I purchased this one raw several years ago, actually with a small grouping of other bust halves featured on eBay. PCGS sent it back as cleaned with UNC details (and no attribution). Does it deserve another shot? I can't see the cleaning although I'm not the best at spotting it on these older coins.

I would probably age that raw on a widow sill a while. A little toning would help its case.
Regardless, I think it deserves another look-see. AU feels more appropriate though.
Looks like an O.110, the "perfect 3". The earlier die state before the desirable Ugly 3.
Lance.
crack it and Taco Bell napkin it
That looks good. I like it
I believe it should be cracked and resubmitted. Nice looking coin. Cheers, RickO
They leave their own distinctive toning pattern which is very recognizable!
I think that it could grade as high as 62 on a really good day and that it has a decent shot at a 58 or 61.

Bright area ED STA. But I've seen worse straight grades. On these series that have mostly been wiped and retoned I think the TPGs should details the harshly cleaned and let the rest straight grade. Otherwise the hair splitting can never be consistent.
That will end up in a straight holder. Do as Lance suggested or crack it and put it in an old envelope and throw it on top of the bookcase for a couple of years.
