Another one bites the dust.....

Phoenix 2021 National Money Show Officially Cancelled

Coronavirus also impacts planning for 2021 Summer Seminar

The American Numismatic Association (ANA) Board of Governors voted on Dec. 16 to officially cancel the Phoenix National Money Show®, scheduled for Mar. 11-13, 2021, due to heightened coronavirus concerns. The vote was 7-2, with the majority of the Board expressing concerns about the Association’s inability to assure the safety of its members, dealers, staff and visitors.

Because of Arizona’s current restrictions on indoor gatherings, the show would have been significantly smaller had the Board voted to move forward. The bourse would have been reduced in size, and educational programming and meetings would have moved online. The Phoenix Convention Center informed the ANA the day after its Board meeting that all events through February 28, 2021, would be cancelled, leaving events such as the Association’s National Money Show in mid-March in an uncertain situation.

Maybe as the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines make their way out to the public we will see the large shows coming back. Maybe fall next year?

Does this become a collector's item or is it now worthless:

Interesting, I think the reason the show was cancelled was because they couldn't sell enough tables. I got a call last week from them trying to sell me a table.

Doubt that was the case at all. The convention center is closed until Feb 28th. So the status going to be in limbo for a long time. Better to just make a decision now. Good call on their part.

I just spoke with the bourse chairman of the St. Louis show in February at the Hilton -- that show has been cancelled; also the Northwest Show in Minneapolis in March has already been cancelled -- that's unfortunate as those are two of the best regional shows in the Midwest.

I will not take a table at a show until covid off field. It’s not worth the risk of that.

    Dammit.

Summer Seminar is also a no-go at Colorado College. Moving somewhere else would mean no easy access to the ANA vault, either.

Very disappointed although my long held hope of attending has been eroding for the last week or so.

Once a majority of us are vaccinated things should swing back to a semblance of normal.
April 9-11 PNNA show in the Pacific NW?
    One can hope, fingers crossed.

Edit to note ANA Board voted 7-2 to cancel the show

What about Baltimore this spring? Any word?

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

Such a shame to see all these show cancellations. Hope is fast dimming for show returns in 2021. Cheers, RickO

That's too bad. Hopefully there will be some large shows by late Spring, or early Summer.

@OKbustchaser At this point in time, the Balt./Whit. show for Spring 2021 is still on.

I was really looking forward to this show but it was likely the right decision. Hopefully the show will return to Phoenix in a few years.

I was too however I would not hold your breath it has been something like 20 years since we had a large national show here in Phoenix, I'll likely be dead before they hold another one here. :'(

Same press release said they would meet to decide about holding it at University of Denver on 19 Jan
