These days OSHA would shut down the US Mint and impose hefty fines. No safety glasses, no machine guards, no personal protective equipment,.......

My digital cameo album 1950-64 Cameos - take a look!
Pretty neat video. Looks like a piece of a much longer documentary. Would be neat to see the whole thing.
Love the music.
It looked like that guy stuck his face in flames!

Nice footage
At least he had welding goggles on. Wonder where all the waste water went? Thanks, that was enjoyable. Peace Roy

Great videos.... both for the process and the time period.... major differences now. Cheers, RickO
Interesting examples of what you can do for a nickel or a cent in those films. Old Tom doesn't go quite as far in 2020 as he did in 1940. Of course the same probably could be said about some of us.
Thanks so much for posting these. I enjoyed watching them

While I was looking for this, I ran across an old history channel production on the secrets of the mint. Good episode.
Great video @TurtleCat

OSHA was created by the government so idk about the fines thats like government on government crime lol. And I bet less people were hurt back in the day then now because there wasn't a lawyer commerical on the radio every 5 minutes..
Thank you @1630Boston
Wish the video was much longer! It reminded me of being in elementary school watching film strips.
Not true about "no personal protective equipment." Some of the men are actually wearing gloves. Not all...but some.😁
Growing up on a dairy farm, 11th generation in 'Massachusetts', myself, siblings, and relatives suffered "injuries" that would land people today in the hospital for days [if not weeks].

A little bag balm and home health care kept us alive for decades.

Because of the dangers I think the workers were well aware of what could happen. Probably saw friends injured. So they worked very carefully and deliberately.

Thanks for a very entertaining video!
Boston, thanks for posting the video. I liked it. It reminded me of the educational movies they showed us in elementary school way back when. Thanks.
Love the use of Cream of Tartar!
Have to get a lot of these!
