I think that more 'credible' info should be available to new collectors, which I guess with the internet it is.

Buy low, sell high, no matter how long it takes. Or buy medium and the coin just stays there. Or as one dealer told me years ago when people sell, buy, when people buy, sell.

Coin collecting isn't even the worst and most stigmatized hobby. Try being a bus enthusiast or a rail enthusiast. At least when people know you enjoy coins, they think you know where the money is at. Bus and rail enthusiasts often are judged to be weird people and there's actually a larger share of people with Autism Spectrum Disorders in that hobby than in coins. I collected NYC area bus and train timetables for a while and my knowledge of NYC metro area buses and trains are greater than most people and believe me that I was ashamed to admit I had an interest in buses and trains and would actively deny it.
@olympicsos youd be welcomed here in minneapolis - I know many well-regarded bus and train enthusiasts here - or maybe were all solitary nerds 🤔🤔🤔
