Anyone have any luck using a MD to find gold nuggets?

Yes....But if gold is your objective, first be sure you are looking in areas that are known to have gold. Otherwise you will find coins, pull tabs, nails, bullets and all sorts of metal objects. Cheers, RickO

It's Alaska, not a lot of garbage in the back country.

Yeah, same here, not much garbage here in the Mojave Desert.....I don't have a display on either of my detectors and dig all targets. Usually a kick with the toe of my boot will get any bullets out with no need to dig.

However, that nugget I posted is a AK nugget not a NV nugget.

@AUandAG .... That is a very nice nugget, with a bit of quartz inclusions. Would make an interesting necklace pendant. Cheers, RickO

It's an ounce and a half, not around my neck!

Unfortunately the only targets out here are gold. High likelihood of my footsteps being the first ones on that spot. No coins or other manmade items expected.

@3stars ... Well, that does not sound 'unfortunate', unless there is no gold there either.... :'( Good luck, Cheers, RickO

Yeah, most of the gold show only show the flour gold. I'm sure their nugget traps get goodies like this one but they don't seem to show the good stuff........not that flour gold is bad, mind you.

Yeah, I'd suit up to swing for gold in the great northwest! Peace Roy
