Here are a few pictures of Forrest Fenn's treasure revealed by the finder. Unfortunately Mr. Fenn recently passed away at the age of 90.

He must have known every aspect of gold as well as coins; quite a mix there!

I don't think there was a finder. I expect he went and took it back. That story by the "finder" seems fishy.

There were a few threads here on Fenn. Here is one that has some additional pics and a story ostensibly from the finder.

The treasure will be going up for auction according to a CBS News report I saw this morning. I might be interested in acquiring a piece from it for myself. Maybe a coin, maybe a nugget. I bought Fenn's memoir,The Thrill of the Chase, awhile back and it is signed by Fenn. He had a very nice signature.

Anyone here who becomes aware of the upcoming auction, please publish a thread here about it.
I'm going to be saving my pennies and nickels so I can ante up to buy a piece of history.

just bumping to say I too would love to know when the fenn auction goes up - what a cool little piece of history to acquire

that being said, probably won't be putting a bid in on this one 😬

@DCW i thought about it a little more, and - if the bids are low enough - I might consider this one, if only for its unique recognizability as a genuine fenn piece

of course, a nugget and a not-horrifically damaged coin might be better mementos 😄

I wonder if this is simply a scheme to sell a collection of ordinary US gold coins.

Much like shipwreck coins, I really have no interest in possessing one of these... Now, if I were to find a gold coin on a beach or a dive, that would be important to me....or if I had found the treasure. Cheers, RickO

The most noticeable coin the the picture. Probably the most identifiable. Yup that equals a big price tag. ;)

Yeah if I’d have known he put 2 Golden Tortillas in the box I might have tried harder.

RickO, you better find that gold on the beach...All the dive ocean gold someone else has a claim on.

@rte592 .... If I find it on a dive... It is mine!! People have tried to take what is mine before -not twice. Cheers, RickO
