I think it is what is called questionable toning. It’s probably natural but with coloring that can be done artificially also. I have a proof Indian head cent with similar coloring. I knew it could go either way but decided to get it slabbed and PCGS called it questionable toning.

Show your proof Indian Head Cent please, so I can compare. Thanks

I’m still trying to figure out how to capture toning with my iPhone. Here’s a quick, poorly done, attempt that gives a hint of the colors on the coin

I don't think it to be AT........but I would also like to see the obverse. My submissions on IHC PR coins that are RD are routinely graded .91 Questionable Color. RB and BN submissions are almost always straight graded. I would resubmit. But I would like to see the obverse as well.

I still can’t get the pictures to show the colors, here’s the best I can get at the moment. The obverse has peripheral toning all the way up to the Indians face. I think it’s a coin that, if submitted multiple times, eventually would get through. But I’d rather leave it as questionable color in case I decide to ever sell it. I’d rather not make as much money but not take the chance of selling an AT coin and ripping someone off. I was suspicious even when I bought it that it might be AT, but the colors are mesmerizing in hand so I bought it anyway at a discount. It has that red/purple fading into green on the reverse which is what made me think the coloring was similar to AlanSki’s Lincoln.
I think it's NT, though there's an outside chance the coin may have been wiped before it toned. I don't think that's the case, but from the first photo in particular where the lustre looks a bit weird (I think it's more likely due to the lighting), I could see it being possible.
I think it had a little more to do with the politics of selling coins. Anyway, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I guessed AT thinking it was a trick question, apparently not.

I would have guessed AT, but I'll defer to others since I don't really collect copper.

Beautifully and naturally toned. Looks GEM and a nice find (in your Library of Coins album purchase?).

I've seen similar on my album stored cents, so NT. But I can see some graders getting spooked.

Nobody could tone that coin so imperfectly........except God.

I like it but I’m gonna guess it came back AT.

What happened to the original picture?? Cheers, RickO
We missed it again! 😉
????? Maybe OP felt that the thread was hijacked?
It’s also on the MS67BN post so I would imagine it’s legit. Beautiful coin.
Sorry if I hijacked the thread

Doctors are skilled, whether it gets slabbed one way or another is another question.
Well, just Love coins, period.
I took it down because someone wanted to try and work out a deal with me and didn't want the image made public but told me after I posted it.
I'm going to keep the coin though but have Bob Campbell image it for me.
I missed the originals but would be interested to see what the pro photos look like.
