I've noticed some hand wringing over the monotony here IRT the US minted bullion coins over the years in the AGE and the ASE. Change coming in 2021 ... thoughts?

Technically it is not a facelift, it is a butt-lift.

    Or that :D

After the recent V75 "poke in the eye" of AGE collectors ran by the Mint, and with the start of a new series - I don't have to collect AGEs anymore and I can focus on some of the cheaper options from my early days of collecting. Phillip Diehl pulled the same type of carp in 1996, which is when I stopped collecting proof ASEs.

There's always room for a good speculation, but what they've been doing is forcing collectors to buy high premium, high cost instant keys/rarities in an ongoing series and expecting collectors to remain loyal while getting hosed in a collection that can't be completed without a huge financial hit in the secondary market.

    Enough is truly enough.

    I knew it would happen.

I inherited a run of ASE proofs from my uncle who passed away in 2017. I was going to keep it going but I stopped in 2018 because I could see there was no way I was going to pony up the extra for the additions to the series .

Plus the foolish proof ASE is what $73 now ? Ridiculous and they added a w coin so thats $150 for 2 ounces of silver? :D

not to look a gift horse in the mouth but ummmm 2009? The morons couldn't manage to produce 2009 with an entire year to do it in? They can make S mint ATB quarters though right?

Though I am not particularly excited about the change, I will likely add a 2021 W ASE when they are available. Cheers, RickO

I'm in for one bullion ASE with the new reverse. Price of the proof is too high for me.

Bullion all the way baby. Isn't that the point of stacking?

The AGE reverse design change will be more than cool by me as a collector. Makes the older design series closed and more collectable.

Looking forward to purchasing both 2021 editions of the 1/4 oz AGE. Have a complete run and looking forward to the new design.

Depending how early the new design is released, there could be somewhat low mintage numbers for the old design gold and silver eagles. Might wanna buy these on the dips. The new design will be old news next year.

The decline from democracy to tyranny is both a natural and inevitable one.

Looking forward to finding the 2022 variety with the 'reverse of 2020.'

@derryb .... I chuckle at that now, but your prediction could be prescient. Cheers, RickO

I'm here to wager that that'll be a thing.
