COUNTDOWN TO 14,000 POSTS - actual coin pictures

jmlanzafjmlanzaf Posts: 32,051 ✭✭✭✭✭

I've got to start thinking about how to celebrate 14,000 posts. Should there be a giveaway? Should I just buy myself something.

I should. Actually, I've got a bag full of medals. I could give one to everyone on the Forum.

That 2 Shu piece has piqued my curiosity. Pretty interesting.

Yes, I've found the Shu and Bu coins of the period interesting. I don't read Japanese characters, but they give it a certain sense of being exotic and foreign. And the rectangular shapes are interesting.

I also think the hansatsu currency of the period is quite fascinating with some interested engravings.

Welcome back! Good to see you around these parts. Phew, I thought you had 14,000 posts!! It's just a mere 13.6K. :)
Seriously though....that's a lot of posting. Do you remember your first post?

I probably had 15,000 posts before they deleted the Omega coin threads. LOL.

I don't remember the first post, but I know it was about the 2017 Enhanced Uncirculated Coin sets. I got a lot of grief about my devotion to that set, particularly the Lincoln cent in that coin set.

Welcome back .... Buy yourself something special for 14K (does not have to be a coin)... Just a celebratory item to mark the occasion. Or, wait until 20K and throw a huge party... :D Cheers, RickO

I remember your slavish love for the 2017 enhanced cent. Maybe you should treat yourself to one for your 14,000th post. :)

In the meanwhile, it's good to see you back.

I still have a bunch of slabbed 69 sets. I sell about one per year.

@jmlanzaf Missed you, buddy. You're kind of like that audacious friend who keeps me in line. ;) Glad you're back. Hard to believe that you've only been here just over 3 years! I've been here 9 years and have only HALF the post count. You've had A LOT to say and you are quite the contributor. I think that 14K is quite the milestone. However you decide to celebrate it; I will support it.

Welcome back to the rodeo, Sir. That 2 Shu appears to just be floating in the slab .... I assume it’s a gasket but it looks like magic a little bit.

Yeah, they seem to have some kind of stretchy film holding it in place.

I really dislike the cartoony design on the 2 shu slab.

    would be a better choice.

Yeah, it's not the best sticker design they've ever had.

Our host really do need to step up on the label designs. Most of us are willing to pay good money for slabs that symbolize museum pieces and not children's art books. :(
