    Reminds me of today’s Coin World weekly. There are various peace medals shown. One is a peace medal between Harrison and two Cheyenne Chiefs: Chief Buffalo Meat and Chief Three Fingers.

    We have a buffalo ranch here.... can buy the meat right there.... Buffalo steak is excellent. Two years ago, the herd busted loose .... it was quite a project to round them up. Cheers, RickO

    We used to get meat from Oklahoma in the 60s and 70's. We would get ground meat and made into a great burger. Wonder if that cafe is still around? Bison meat is good and lean. Didn't worry about "lean" back then.

    I played around with raising Beefalo for awhile. 1/8-3/8 Buffalo interbred with cow. Was supposed to be very healthy. Wish I could find a picture of my Bull to post here.

    I believe that's what we had, Beefalo. Never raised them tho, stayed with regular beef cows. Wish you had a picture too.

    I agree. I have a small collection of Pan-American Expo stuff, centered around this one-

    I also have a complete deck of the playing cards, an advertising cover (which is my avatar,) and a few others.

    Pete-

    That round top "3" is seen on the rarer of the two patterns for the date. I believe there are three known where as the flat top three has something like 17 known.

    The US Mint did operate with a manufacturing function to provide Special Medals for US Government Agencies. One US Government Agency that used this US Mint function was the Department of the Interior (DOI). The first DOI service award convocation was in 1948 and continues to this day.

    Here is a gold Distinguished Service Medal. It is 14 KT gold, 39.8 mm in diameter, and 55.2 grams, No designer hallmark on the obverse. The reverse was designed by Gilroy Roberts
