PCGS price guide has a 1911 S ms60 for a thousand and a au55 for $740, maybe $700?
And as far as Craigslist being bad, why don't you do something about it? I try to scan Craigslist on a regular basis looking for fakes and when I find them I first try to ask the seller if they know if it's fake and if I don't get an answer then I post my own ad letting everyone know that they are fake using the sellers own pictures.
I already have a day job and taking care of two ill family members. I don’t have much time to scan craigslist. They majority of scams and worse seem to originate with them.
I would not bother with gold that has not been slabbed. Plenty of graded inventory available.

Yeah it sounds like you have your hands full, but I've made some good deals on Craigslist, not all the folks on there are bad.
A silver stacker buying old pre-33 gold, yeah that's a real shocker. I've got modern gold, but lately I've had my eye on the old gold, I'd love to put a type set together. And who knows, maybe I'll find a real gem.

I'm very highly suspect that someone with the ability to take a photo of that quality also think Craigslist is the right place to sell that coin.

The Feds investigated a Craigslist scam in the NY, OH, PA area a couple years back. Guy from PA was posting in multiple towns, meeting people in parking lots and selling fake American Eagles. They finally tracked him down and arrested him.
I met one of his victims at my local dealer's shop. The guy paid cash to acquire the eagle for about $60 or $70 less than he could have paid the dealer. Was it really worth the risk? The guy said he had done it 8 or 10 times before without a problem. But that one mistake wipes out any advantage from the previous 10 times.

I've done dozens of deals on CL, both selling and buying. I've seen the good and bad and have used that to hone my negotiation skills. Plus, I've met many good folks that I would never had the chance to meet otherwise.
Of course. There are good and bad people everywhere. But I would hardly criticize someone for not trying to locate fakes on Craigslist.

On eBay, you have protections from both eBay and PayPal. You also don't have to meet a stranger in a parking lot while carrying a pile of cash.

I don't waste time buying non-graded/authenticated gold as I noted above, but I've have good luck with Craigslist buying and selling (pre-Covid that is). I take a lot of precautions including meeting in an indoor public place with video cameras, armed to the teeth, search person online prior to meeting, etc. Suggest meeting at your local police station and see how the other person responds. Never, under any circumstances, meet at your house. I've done repeat business with a few people I met from Craigslist transactions.
Guy wants to trade for land in Texas. I don’t know Texas property law but presumably it’s a complex process that requires verification and registration of a buyer’s name and information. A crook who wants a quick cash grab wouldn’t want anything like that.
I suspect it’s a legitimate offering and not an attempt to pull a fast one, but the coin is damaged and still could be a high quality forgery.
