Hey, same set I just purchased. I see your attempt to the magic 70 was disappointing on both accounts. Too bad. Beautiful coins too. I'm contemplating to send my Jefferson nickel in. Maybe not, from all the news I heard on trying. Like mentioned by some, maybe the toning (on the nickel) played a part in the lesser grade? Love the dollar coin as well.

The most impressive Texas comm. I’ve ever seen. I wanted a high grade but 67+? I’ll just enjoy your picture. Hope you’re a Longhorn and not an Aggie lol.

I 100% agree with you, Jeremy.
This is not a rare coin. The 1935-d buffalo nickel’s book value in PCGS 65, as this one, is $275.00. Even though I believe this coin should score higher makes no difference to me. I find this to be one of the most attractive buffalo nickels in my entire collection.
Great thread 👍
Surely this would be considered a “...monster covered with bright colors” referred to in the OP, right?
I disagree. But if you want to call it a monster that’s up to you. I don’t use that term.
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
This is Joe's definition of a Monster coin. " a toned, tarnished, with vibrant colors of the spectrum that glistens at every angle you position the coin" This describes the majority of Joe's coins!

Seller's pics. Has one heck of a deep-dish strike, much deeper hairlines than picture shows. The only feature that didn't strike up well were the steps but presentable. But this is how I collect them, the steps are the least of my worries. A four quality example in strike, condition, luster and a bit of interesting toning! For those pondering how nice of a strike, compare to my other coins in the link below.

I bought it from a random table at a Chicago ANA and sold it to CRO.

These all kind of have that 'look'. All world coins produced at either Philadelphia, Denver or San Francisco so they should fit in OK here.

Yup, I bought it from CRO. It's so cool to trace a coin's provenance through the community.

Most common GSA. I bought it strictly for eye appeal; unfortunately I’m not a photographer.
