1985 P Quarter with? Occluded gas bubble

Hi there👋. I'm new to the group and have lots of questions. I'll start with the first coin that started this new interest of mine. 1985 P Quarter with lumps/indents. I've read lots of information and I'm still not sure. Thanks in advance for any insight.

    The coin has been subjected to something. I'd guess extreme heat, such as fire or a blowtorch.

    Propane torch, maybe. But no discoloration? Subjected to some sort of excessive heat source.

    That is not an occluded gas bubble.

    It's been heated or torched.

    Not an error coin..........sorry

    Appears to solder at the 2:00 and 10:00 points. Weird. Maybe for holding it in place while the assault occurred :D

    Neither a rarity nor an error coin but it is an unusual version of the '85-P with a larger gap between the "E' of "LIBERTY" and the bust. This may be only a hubbing variety but it accounts for less than 1% of the date.

    This one was probably an acetylene torch since most kinds of heating result in discoloration (blackening) unless done intentionally not to. The coin is layers of metal and the stresses caused by heating causes it to delaminate in areas. The raised metal would preclude normal circulation which probably explains the light wear.

    I call these "beat with an ugly stick".
