    I agree with NGC's assessment.

It looks really nice but will defer to NGC.

In terms of pricing from show table or online store the goal would be to get somewhere between cost and CPG AU 50 MV $8250.

AU details, burnished. I don't have a clue about how to price those.

I've seen that on gold, when it's high AU, that you sometimes see that halo effect around the stars and such. Seems to indicate that's it been cleaned but then under a loupe there is no evidence of that being done. Just AU effect is my take.
So, I'd say AU55 and expensive! Unless of course those are little parallel scratches on the obverse from 3-5.

"AU details, cleaned" is the easy part...

Evaluating the extent of the problem, and arriving at a fair Net grade, is quite a bit more difficult.

Saying, "Cleaned, pass" is easy to say for those not in the market for such a coin, but also contains no meaningful information for those who are..

Deciding on a fair price so that an actual transfer of ownership can be accomplished is more challenging.

That said, looks like a net VF imo, a better set of pictures, ir preferably in hand examination, could probably narrow that down some.

It's very hard to price coins like this with issues, though one of the other services called it AU58 details.

One strategy - price at $7850 about 5 pct less than AU 50 CPG on bay at bin / mo and c what happens. Goal - try get somewhere between cost and that.

The second set of images provides a bit more information about the Quality of the surfaces.. and also raises more questions. Some of that activity looks like it might be in the realm of pinscratches/graffiti/tooling; a couple of clear, sharp pictures would help understand the coin better..
If slightly damaged along with cleaned, the net grade would go down from VF imo to possibly Fine, or lower..

"How would you grade and price this early gold?"

I'd tilt and rotate it under good lighting and look at it closely with a loupe, and deduct points for everything I saw, arrive at a conservative net grade, and then look up that grade in a reliable price guide and auction records.

That's a ridiculously harsh assessment. To assume that light cleaning represents such damage as to take an AU58 coin down to a heavily worn coin is just absurd. Someone could intentionally wear it down to an XF with a look acceptable to the grading services, if you had to take it down that much. The coin has a lot of luster but light cleaning. NGC would have said "harshly cleaned" if it were. Pricing it in the XF range makes sense to me.

Years ago a dealer offered me a similar Bust $5 coin for $2750 with a one month return privilege for an around 10% deduction. I sent it to NGC which called it cleaned and tooled, usually the describe the more serious issue. I returned it to the dealer within the month who tried to deny the refund minus 10%, I said I would have to go over his head if he persisted, I had his contract and what NGC said. Slam dunk case. He should have refunded the full amount as he was a major player and knew what he was doing.

The quality of your photos doesn't really lend itself to accurate evaluation, especially considering you are asking others to play "coin dealer" for you.

I'm with Bailey. Details graded early gold at a 10% deduction is a big win for the seller. I would never, repeat never, purchase any details graded early gold coins (and I have seen a lot of early gold pieces IN HAND, in addition to owning quite a few pieces in my almost complete early gold, including Classic Head, type set back in the day).

That’s a great way not to get the coin sold. AU details, cleaned examples have sold for considerably less than that. One brought $5760 earlier this year and even some straight grade AU pieces have sold for less than your suggested asking price. Forget about published AU price guide prices and look at actual sales of details grade examples.

NGC certification was: 5911153-001 image available on their site. Also no one notice the edge nick which NGC apparently did not consider that bad.

Definitely AU details. The level of cleaning was much more difficult to discern by the first images, given the surfaces/fields are all "shadowed". The second set are better, but appear to be overexposed. I agree the coin has been cleaned, or at a minimum, so vigorously dipped/brightened to a degree that NGC felt compelled to label it as such. As far as details go, here are a few of my Capped Bust Left $5s as an AU grade-range reference. I'd say yours has at least AU53 details.

NGC showed over 40 AU details coins graded.

However a lot fewer people send in the old tags for problem coins than straight graded ones. So populations are probably higher than indicated.
