INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis coin collector was shot outside one of his favorite restaurants Friday evening and died at the hospital Saturday.
Workers at the Hardee's at 5950 Brookville Road didn’t know Paul Edmonds by name, but they knew him well for the unique way he always paid for his meals.
Friday about 7 p.m., the 78-year-old Edmonds walked into the east side Hardee's and told worker Rochelle Briggs, "Call the police. I've been shot."

"He was very nice so, I kind of got attached to him,” Briggs said. “I felt for him. It pissed me off. Why would somebody want to shoot this old man? That could have been their grandfather."
Hardee’s workers said Edmonds visited their restaurant almost every day. He paid for his meal with 50-cent pieces and silver dollars, coins he collected in his business.
"He never pulled his wallet out…never…never,” Briggs said. “He always used his coins to pay for his food."
Edmonds owned Diamond Stamp and Coin for 35 years. He operated his business from a display case in Shadeland Peddlers & Flea Market, where people learned that he died Saturday morning.

That's horrible. I will pray for his family. 2020 just keeps getting worse. May peace find them in these troubled times.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

Pointless killing...
using silver coins to pay for a meal every day, the work gets out, don't set yourself up to be a target
Thanks for the video link. How terrible for him and his family. Meth turns people into monsters to feed their habit. I have seen it turn hard working, smart and kind people into crazed lunatics who will do anything for that next high. Very sad.
I had a student once who almost killed her whole family when she was on meth. She had them in the house with a gun to one of their heads demanding money when the police showed up. Thank goodness for Adult and Teen Challenge that she finally recovered. Her attitude, looks and behavior were night and day different. That picture is classic meth sores caused by anxious picking and scratching.
Horrible drug with horrible consequences.
The video shows he was meeting her at a Hardees to purchase coins. He advertised this for his business as shown in the video. I have someone locally who has done this for decades.
He died doing what he loved. Living, and enjoying the fruits of his labor. However that may be....RIP, brother.
