Hey guys, this is funny. I went to stop by my favorite B+M but they were closed. So I wanted my coin fix before I went off to work. So I decided to stop by a near by pawn shop. I went there many times before. The owner runs a barbecue shop next door and he was in a hurry to get rid of me. Lol. But in the kind fashion. He was so sorry to rush me. I understand, I told him. So I asked him if he had any Dateless buffs. He said not really but you can "very quickly" check this assorted nickel tray. 20 for $5. So I obliged. I was taking sort of too long, he began to grow impatient. Lol. He asked very gently if I would pick up the pace? I said sure. So I dug in to finish my picks. Here they are! Not bad for $5 and picking quickly. Lol Still have to go through 10 more.
Toned Wartime lol.

V Nickel

PMD or not? When I seen the obverse I thought right away but when I turned it over?

Check out the MM?

Poor guy, it's not worth his stress for a $5 sale. If these are representative of the total then I think you overpaid.

Lol. Here's the odd part. When he was through with me, he waited on another guy that was interested in a watch? Two other guys waiting after him. So, was he in that much of a hurry after all? :*

To bad for the 1915-S Buff even in good it's worth around 50 Bucks but with the "Vice" squeeze it's toast! to bad the "Guy" didn't give you more time never know what you'll find in a "Junk" box Keep up the searching!

If you got your fix for 5 bucks it was worth it.
    Enjoy😊

Essentially a bunch of very low value junk that you shouldn't be wasting money on. Very low value coins tend to have high selling costs which the buyers rarely consider. There is no profit in buying them.

    I respectfully disagree.
The 15-S even though a beat-up POS will pay for the lot and the rest is gravy.
    Who doesn't like gravy?
It's easier to move junk than MS68s.

I appreciate the serious advise. But you have to realize my point of view. I don't have deep pockets. That's #1. I'm trying to collect the coin/s that are quite inexpensive but at the same time purchase something either with hidden value, or very unusual, or, this is the main one. Something that fills my day with enjoyment and excitement. I try my darndest not to touch our bank account. Just with side job money or my allowance . Thanks again for the help and concern. :)

Thanks. Don't forget about the $1.50 Wartime Nickel, plus, the 1913d Typ.1. Then the rest of the nickels,17. Face value for those are 85c. Lol. Remember, were talking only $5 spent. Look how 5 bucks lit up this thread and my excitement. :D

I really like your enthusiasm and your lot was a good buy at $5. I would have bought it as well.
I make much more money percentage-wise on junky stuff than "good" stuff.
Great buys can be had for a little labor.....but I am and always have been willing to put in the time.
I could (and probably should at some point....not that anyone would care) make a list of coins I have scrounged from junk boxes, shoeboxes, etc.
Case in point: 4-5 years ago a dealer friend of mine literally brought to my table a shoebox full of crap.
He asked me if I was interested, I asked the price and he said $20 and deal was done. I have spent thousands with him over the years and I didn't even look at the contents for more than 10 seconds or so. He always sells me crap but he is savvy enough to leave some meat on the bone for this numismatic scavenger.
Most of it was super crappy crap, but there was inexplicably a very very rare Mexican minor in the box that I sold very quickly for $400.
Also a 1951 proof Bolivian 5 Bolivianos which at the time I suspected was a proof but frankly was too lazy to pursue it.
The world coin guru at the show has a poker face but I could read him that day and I could tell he thought it was a proof as well, but quickly flipped it the same day for $30....WAY WAY WAY too cheap but I moved it nonetheless.
There was an 1942-P nickel encrusted in coal-like toning that after a quick dip turned out as I suspected to be a proof.
The rest of it I can't remember.....but I likely netted $6-800 from this one quick deal. So quick buys aren't necessarily bad buys.

Yeah, there were crackerjack prizes and glumps of steel pennies and a plastic box of buttons (?) and wooden nickels and rusty political buttons too, and even crappier crap, but sometimes with enough elbow grease, you can indeed polish a turd.

Yep, there's always next time. Before leaving that day, he did tell me to come back later in the day or next week. He's the guy I bought this dazzling Silver Eagle from, raw.

That's a great looking Eagle, and it didn't grade bad either! Great pick-up.

Too bad about the '15-S. Those are hard to find. I recently went through a shop inventory of lower grade Buffalo nickels and bought just one coin out of hundreds that I looked at. A '15-S in problem free (unless one considers honest wear a problem, of course) good. I expected to hear $40 to $50 ask for the piece but heard $25 from the shop owner so that's what I paid without trying to get him to go lower.

I always try to buy something when I visit the coin store. $20 minimum purchase is a good number that seems to work well for me to keep myself in good graces there. I have spent considerably more on occasion in the coin store but know for a fact that they tire of looky loos who never buy anything from them, not even a well worn Buffalo nickel.

Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.
