How late does your submission need to be before you call customer service?

I feel bad about calling, knowing full well it likely won’t help move my lagging submission along. Curious how long you all wait before giving them a call.

With very poor customer service experiences recently, I don't have to call any longer. I have been trained/conditioned to send my non-registry and flip business elsewhere.

    Probably at least a month.

It really depends upon the service level that you paid for. If it is economy and the current estimate is 25 days then I would call on day 35, knowing that 35+ has not been uncommon in the past. If you pay for express and the estimate is 5 days then I would likely call at 7...because if that creeps to 10 business days, I would tell them that I would have just selected Regular instead of paying for Express if that is the case.

That's slow. I would follow-up. I also have a coin that's in stasis right now.

I just sent a world regular submission.
I guess it will be a nice Christmas present. :D

In all fairness, I think it depends on the submission. If we are looking at coins seen once in a blue moon, it seems reasonable that express may take on a different timetable. Not sure this is what you want to read...

I agree. I did end up calling a bit ago and the coins were sent back for a second look apparently according to customer service. They are Guatemalan Pillars all in the condition census and two of the four are finest extant by all accounts. This makes me think that whoever was grading (crossover submission) may have been too harsh and not knowing what these actually look like and a finalizer caught it.

There are several which have provenances with documentation provided. I worked through customer service before submission to get the provenances "approved" and passed along all go that documentation and correspondence so as to not drag the submission on forever while those were researched.

Late is not a surprise I suppose.

Part of the submission process is managing expectations from the time the submission leaves the post office and is returned. My submission arrived in Newport Beach yesterday... A 12 day journey sent priority. I am not complaining... Things have changed. My submission is world as well... Not express...but with some potential challenging coins that may require extra time and I am fine with that.

Hope things turn out well for you.

I must say PCGS is very consistent on the Walk-Through tier. I have had three through this month and routinely scanned in day 1, ready end of day 3.

The only time I call customer service is when I have a question on my account. The coins will be finalized when that happens. I've never believed that my order will get pushed through because I called. Nor do I think my stuff ever 'fell behind the couch'......

Yep, been there, done that approach, Sorry. I have three separate submissions in the air. I too, feel something must be wrong by it's delay? My earliest had been received by our Host, almost 5 weeks ago but still, no coin's status yet. Sure, my submission is economy as well, so I guess this movement should be taken with the greatest patience. It's a race. Lol. Who will receive theirs first, you or me? Don't worry, I just sent one out last week,(economy) just got word from PCGS, they received it. I guess I'll be eating my "Turkey" when UPS arrives? I hope anyway? Look at it this way, my friend. Consider just being satisfied the coin/s arrive safely, right? :/
On the topic of calling our Host, so far, I've never called yet? Lol

One of my submissions has been "grading" since 7/23/2020. I will not call about it anymore because the music on hold is so monotonous, it drives me crazy, and I hang up early because it really won't speed anything up anyway.

There is usually a good reason for the time it takes in most cases.

Give them at least 10 or 15 minutes.

    "Squeaky wheel gets the grease".

I think it is reasonable for Boosibri to call and ask for an update on his sub...whether it will help move his submission along is another question.

Agree. A 5 day express, going on 20 days did deserve a call, and when he did, he was given a good explanation for the delay, as they wanted to get the grades right on such rare items with provenance.

My most recent submission was having 4 coins (already PCGS graded and TrueView'd) re-holdered into 2-coin holders. PCGS received on 8/5/2020 and I got them back just today - just FIVE weeks afterwards.
