Possible overdate? Am I seeing things??

Hi Everyone,
Was just scouting some things on E-bay and ran across this 1826 Capped Bust Half Dollar AU50. Look at the date. I swear I see a 3 in between the 2 and the 6 like its an overdate.? Your thoughts?

Happy Labor Day!!

Here's a capture of the reverse. What is it specifically your looking for on the reverse to indicate an overdate?

Sorry 67, my feeble attempt at being funny, fortunately there are a lot of experts (I am not one) who will know. Best of luck..

Haha, shows what I know. I see there are many Overton varieties in the series but I'm not familiar with them so I guess I need to do some research. Just looking at the picture sure looks like a shadow of a 3 there.

what looks like a three is in the wrong position for a 1923 coin

Are they really this stupid, or are they destroying the dollar on purpose?

Yes, and the 3 itself doesn't look like a 23's 3. Some strange toning/shadows. Well at least I learned all about Overton's great book on all the varieties. Was surprised by the actual number of overdates in the series.

Just based on the picture (which is not crisply focused), I would say it is a case of pareidolia. Cheers, RickO

Sorry...no overdates in 1826. FWIW, that is an O.117.
