A couple of Washingtons...
Just eye candy shopping. Picked up these two stunners in a roll at my B+M Shop. The '66s, are hard to come by in high grades. I like the two, how 'bout you guy's? I also picked up three 1965's as well. Just a cheap buy, $3 for all 5.
My pictures don't do the coins justice. Sorry.
One of the '65's
This Quarter isn't black, it's just the angle I took the shot at, along with some lighting issues used by my camera phone. .Lol.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!

The second 1966 and the middle 1965 coin both look like they are coins from SMS sets.
The other three coins may or may not be from SMS sets. It is hard to tell from the photos of those coins.
I don't think they are SMS's. They would of wrote that on the roll. Maybe, there is a chance.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. They look nice. And if they make you happy, that's all that matters!
HAPPY COLLECTING
Nice find ... even have some toning going on.
Yeah, maybe they're all "70's"? Lol
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!

Are you building a set of modern Washington quarters? Or just putting away some nice coins? Cheers, RickO
Thanks for asking RickO. Not building a set, just putting aside some exquisite coins in my collection. Or even some colorful ones, as well. Esp. For the low prices that I spend on them. As a matter of fact, I'm waiting to receive a 1965 Business strike Quarter back from our Host, that I submitted awhile back. Along with three more coins I sent in from the same submission. Lol. Thanks.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. With all due respect, if writing something on a roll is all it would take to make it so, my collection would be way more impressive.
Yeah, you're right. That goes along with the famous saying, "don't believe everything you read". Lol thanks
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I suppose this coin does look like a SMS coin?
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.MS 1966 quarters that are circulation strikes are mostly ugly coins and do not look even remotely like the coin in the photo posted immediately above.
My guess is SMS.
Yeah, you guys are probably right. Thanks. Check out this rim on one of them.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I think they all do. While the photos aren't ideal for making the distinction, the partially mirrored surfaces of SMS coins often produce rounder halos/rings of lustre like you'd see on some prooflike coins that don't have deep mirrors, where standard business strikes are more likely to have have bands of lustre. In the group shot, you can see that halo effect on every coin. It's a similar appearance to how a lacquered coin would look, which makes sense because when lacquered, the texture/metal flow in the fields (which reflect light to make lustre) are smoothed out/filled in and the light is reflected more as a mirror would.
Thank you, dude, for all that important info. Really, thanks. Thanks to all that help me. So, you're saying all 5 coins are SMS?
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!

"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I just sent in a 65 quarter for grading. Any day now. It is encapsulating.
Cool, mine is not the SMS Quarter, how 'bout yours?
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I like them. The inside edges of the rims seem awfully sharp.
Back in the last big silver melt, many SMS sets were broken for the half leaving rolls of lesser coins and nice Whitman 5 coin holders from the 66's and 67's.
Not SMS that I know of. It is in QA now. Im going to send in a 74 with my next submission. 65-98 Washingtons are going to see a jump in value. Just a gut feeling.
