    That is how the obverse and reverse dies clash together. Just neat to see one before it was repaired. If you flip each side upside down it would match the clashed side perfectly.

    MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

    The dies. A clash occurs when the dies come together without a blank planchet between them and they contact. This transfers design elements from the obverse die to the reverse die and reverse die to obverse die leading to what you see on this coin.
