Two NEW pick-ups...

Hi guy's, yes two more to add to my collection. One old "fattie". I bought this for three reasons, one, maybe the DDR? Second, MS 67? Wow! And three, the old fattie slab from NGC. The second coin, also maybe some sort of Vam? Or the DDR variety for that year? Die cracks and the cheek and fields looks AMAZING! Opinions? 1947s ms 67/1889p Morgan

    Well first off that is not an NGC slab that is called a fatty, that term refers to slabs without the line that separates the coin from the label. As for the coins well it looks like a nice rossie....

    The dime looks nice, but as mentioned, it is not a fatty.

    The 89 morgan looks wiped/cleaned.

    Lol.you guy's are most certainly on the ball! Yes, I was wrong on the fattie issue. Also, you guy's noticed the Morgan. I bought the coin knowing it was dipped/cleaned! I wanted to see if anyone would catch it. You did! I still loved it's appearance. Thanks guy's for the schooling Lol. The 1947s has the dd appearance on the reverse (America) but doesn't have the die marker shown in the CPG. Nevertheless, I love the MS 67 aspect. <3

    Now I'm aware of the coin cleaned but considering the hit free face and fields, is this still worth sending in? To me, the coin would grade a 65 or even a 66? Yes or no? Thanks guy's. :*

    Generally, cleaned coins won't get numeric grades.

    I did see many slabs, including our Host, with "graded" titled along with the mention of "cleaned" or "improper cleaned ". Ex:

    I think you need to slow down your purchases and learn more about what you’re doing. The 1889 does not have a clean cheek or amazing fields. It looks AU to me or low MS at best. If it is cleaned it would come back AU details or possibly Unc details. It is worth about $25.

    That Morgan is not a good candidate for submission... Lots of chatter on the cheek and fields of the obverse and a couple of dings on the reverse... also cleaned. Album coin. Cheers, RickO

    Yes, that's my point. This coin has no numeric grade. You would never get a 65 or 66, or even a 62, on a cleaned coin.

    I have sent almost identical Morgans into ANACS when they have a special. It will come back AU58 improperly cleaned.

    I'd suggest taking a look at a lot of 65-67 coins. If your coin is uncirculated and ignoring it being cleaned, it's maybe a 63 at best. The cheek and fields aren't that clean. That's not a coin worth grading; even a nice, problem-free 63 is worth $60-70 in the PCGS price guide, and that guide is usually high.

    Fattie no fattie it’s still a great looking piece. It is an older NGC slab but as mentioned If it has a line there it’s not the so called “Fattie.”
    Nice additions my coin brother 😊

    The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
