It almost looks whizzed on the reverse.

Wiped at some point, more recently than not. I'd prefer a bourbon stout.

Oh, you asked about the coin didn't you? Obverse and reverse look wiped from the pictures and the color also looks off.

Where do you see signs of wiping on the reverse?

In the last picture I see a line from the center of the F in OF to the bottom left side of the A in AMERICA and all the way to the rim and slight parallel lines on either side. Of course it might just be my old eyes after that stout or may be my monitor.

Thank you. I don’t see reverse wiping, but at least we agree that the color is off.

Color is wonky. I can sort of see the halos you get on cleaned coins. Not sure what the grouping of parallel lines below the chin is. I'm going to say cleaned and take a Two Brothers Cane & Ebel.

Looks like possibly it has been dipped and part of the dip residue remains as a stain to the right of the T in CENT and the wheat stalk on the reverse giving a different shade of yellow in various places on the reverse.

I disagree. not cleaned, maybe some woodgrain on the obverse. Color? easily off when shooting coins. nice coin

A red cent from 1916, you can hardly go wrong guessing cleaned.

Physical distancing... Not social distancing otherwise there would be no replies.

I do not believe it will straight grade. Whether one wants to assert altered surfaces or cleaned would seem to the point of contention. I am more inclined to assert altered surfaces for those keeping score.

I see what looks to be a scratch from Lincoln’s collar down his shoulder. I also see what looks to be wispy lines above the date and below Lincoln’s chin. The surface color on the rev also doesn’t look natural to me.
I vote cleaned. Just my opinion based on the images.

My opinion is, that it has been dipped and wiped...not drastically, but there appear to be some light lines.
I will have a large Cabernet Sauvignon please... and perhaps a slice of cheddar. ;) Gracias...Cheers, RickO

Cleaned, or at least the color is off. It almost looks like there are some hairlines below Lincoln's chin, but I'm not positive that's what I'm seeing.
