I received very bad news that John Reutov passed away up in Alaska yesterday.
He suffered a heart attack.
He lived in Oregon and was very knowledgeable in many areas of numismatics, including Russian coins, U.S. type coins, Bust Halves, and especially the California Gold Fractional series. He may have the top-rated PCGS registry set for Cal Gold.
He was 62.
He will be missed.

WOW! I knew John and did business with him. He was a fine person, smart and an excellent grader. He was always fair and was an all around good guy. I am sorry for he news, he will be missed at the PNNA and other coin venues..
Yes. He definitely loved coins and his passion showed when he talked about them.

Bob White . . . one of his closest friends (and old owner of Broadway Coins in Portland), called me yesterday.
I knew John for the last 15 years . . . had bought and sold a few cool coins with and from him. Quiet, intense, professional. Made a lot of his stake in the Christmas Tree business he ran, and always loved the Alaska fishing. He'd send down a few pounds of salmon to Bob every year, and I would be a collateral benefactor.
I am heartbroken . . . .

Condolences to his family and friends. I don't believe I knew John, but he sounds as though he was a mighty fine individual who will be greatly missed.

Wow, this is very sad and unexpected news. John was always a pleasure to work with. He was very generous and quite kindly would regularly ship us fish that he caught on his fishing expeditions to Alaska. Our deepest condolences to his family.

John was great, whenever we did a deal, which wasn't that often but occasionally, he would get that half grin on his face and say to me "how much"? I would sharpen my pencil... He was right! I'll miss him.
Wow, So sad, John and i have been collecting calfracs for such a long time. I will miss him dearly....... RIP John
