How do we fix the US Mint east coast bias?

When the occasional hot new Mint release sells out in 10 minutes after sales open, and you were shut out there is no chance of snagging the next day(s) sales unless you get up at 4 AM PST or 5 AM MST.

The sales may continue for a week or two due to bad CC #, or multiple orders being ferreted out.

The next day(s) sales start at 4 AM PST. Vis a vis the day of release sales begin at 9 AM PST.

**That time needs to be adjusted to 7 AM PST to give everyone a fair shot at the few coins available.

Anybody have an email addy for David J. Ryder United States Mint Director or any of his underlings?

I think you're mistaken about times. Mint releases are at noon eastern which is 9am pacific.

Its only Alaska and hawaii that have an issue

The original first day sales start at 9 AM PST, correct, but this is not what I'm referring to.

I'm talking about the day(s) after the first day sellout, when the mint releases a handful of the 'sold out' coins starting at 4 AM PST. They are gone by 4:02 AM PST.

These subsequent days sales of the few still available coins need to be released at 7 AM PST, not 4 AM.

3AM for me, but it’s a small price to pay to get a shot. I don’t cry that the stock market opens before I’m awake everyday, potentially costing me a shot at buying or selling on a hot open. If you live out west, you get used to it and plan accordingly.

Your 7am plan means I have to wake up at 5:45 to get ready. No big difference from 3am to me.

I have no problem with the supposed east coast bias. >:)

Actually, 7 AM is too early for me even in the eastern time zone. :*

Knowing me, f I were on the west coast I would more likely stay up until 4 AM, not get up at 4 AM. :p

If you don't like it cancel it. Like everything else.

This is only a retired person's bias. If you pt it in the middle of a work day, you eliminate another group from consideration.

I say we close the mints in Charlotte and Dahlonega and open one in Oregon.

I know this isn’t the point of this thread, but the correct time for next day sales is 730am Eastern, Not 7am. A fair number of folks on this forum missed out on second and third day sales of the 2019 S Enhanced Reverse Proof ASE because they tried too early. So sleep a little longer. 😉

This is something I never thought about before. I wish I wasn't thinking about it now.

East Coast bias? How about when a major auction is held late at night on the West Coast? I remember in 2016 when Stacks had their ANA auction in Anaheim. I had arranged for phone bidding with Stacks and their phone rep ended up calling me at 1:47 AM!! Five minutes later, I had won three lots, hung up, and went right to bed. That was the first time in my life I had ever received a 2:00 AM phone call that wasn't either a crank call or a major family crisis. I hate West Coast auctions!!!

Some things can't be fixed. We will just have to learn to live with it.

I use the Nepalese protocol. They don't pay attention to them in Nepal. :p

    Somewhat better in Hawaii.
Noon open = 6am or 7am depending on daylight time or not. ( we don't observe Daylight Time but still need to contend with the different time zones that do )
    7:30 am ET = 1:30 am or 2:30 am
I missed out the first day for the ERP ASE because of my mistaken 7:00 am belief. 2:30 am on the following days is a pain when you don't score one of the few releases. Which I didn't for 5 straight days.
