Could this be a 1939 D U.S. Five Cent.

Just cleanning up and found this.
Seems to be out of place.
Is it just another one of those nickels ?

Try looking to the right of the building
You Got it.

Just a 1939 philly.
Spend it. No one would pay a premium for it in that shape

No visible mint mark - which would be to the right (as viewed) of Monticello....Just an old nickel. Cheers, RickO
Maybe I'm not jaded enough but I still think that finding an 81 year old coin in change is neat.

No it is not just a plain Philadelphia Nickel!
I see what you’re talking about. It’s just damage that happens to look like a D. It’s just an old nickel. I personally keep all nickels <1960 I run across. I have about a dozen of these.
Iv spent actual 39-d's that look better than that one, in vf lower, i cant sell them when broken out of jefferson sets that come in.
Yup it's that old phantom mm that's burned into our minds. Shake it off. The hunt continues. Peace Roy

It also has rolling machine damage on the left side of Monticello.
There's a coin shortage going on - let that dog run free and do some good in commerce.
LDFG,
Cool.
Thank You for all that.
Lets ride.
