I’m glad......................

I didn’t listen when I was advised not to buy generic gold when it was around $1200 an oz.
I was told it’s a loser, only to get a few gold cac’s and a few greens.

It's great when you realize that you made a positive decision in the face of negative cosmic interference. Nice! Peace Roy

something I was told about Fishing applies to a lot of thing, especially our Hobby: Following someone else's advice breeds dependence, following your own breeds confidence.
I’m glad you went with your gut. You have been killing it with your gold submissions since you started. What makes that lot even cooler is you cherry picked the 54 large date. Looking forward to the results of your upcoming submission.
I'm happy for you, but it could have just as easily gone the other way. Still, whether you're going to be right or wrong, it's better to do so, based on your own thinking/opinion.

Nice coins and great decision....People laughed at me when I was buying gold at $400-500-600 an ounce...."Waste of money" they said...Then it started to climb...Many said... "it is only a blip, will drop again"... I bought some more at $700-750, actually, a bit more than 'some'.
Then it took off big time....and some of the chuckleheads wanted to buy some (typical). Yep...make your own decisions... sometimes you will be wrong - learn from it. Many times you will be right... enjoy it. Cheers, RickO
And if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle. You could say the opposite about most decisions in life. Lets celebrate the win and move to the next one. Just saying.
Actually, that's not necessarily true about your aunt.

.....I began collecting coins in 1954. I'm glad I sold the core of my collection in 2010. I'm glad to be puttering in coins today..
Lifelong adventure.

Real question. If you consider the total $$$ spent on the above coins and had put it into straight bullion (American 1 ounce gold eagles) would you be better or worse off?
He who knows he has enough is rich.
I would be much worse with straight bullion.
The gold cac’d are a winner for sure, because I made them.
The 1849 is one of the most eye applying Toned gold coins I’ve seen.
The 1854 large date is a home run that turned into a grand slam when it cac’d.
I still believe it deserves a gold cac and will be bringing it back on a walk through. It’s better than any xf45 cac on heritage. Another xf40 cac that isn’t as nice just sold for 5k. Estimate of 150 pieces
The 1889 is a better date also
Nice coins Pickwick! I'd rather have the coins than bullion any day!
I hope gold goes down by September, I was planning on buying a generic Indian 10$ for my US type set.
i would buy one now, you might not be able to afford one by September, gold is on a historic bull run
