I've made my share of impulse buys, without a doubt. But the two that really fit this thread are both darkside coins, which I don't collect. Somehow, they both spoke to me, and to this day, I'm not sure why. But they still do!!

These are hotstruck die trials on one ounce silver rounds. By Ron Landis.
The first one struck to test his dies out. He had to use 2-one ounce rounds
because of the deep die impressions.. you can see where they were compressed together on the sides.

I was surfing eBay back when I was actively building my British classic silver collection. Ran across this coin and was captivated by its character and age. A $2500 impulse buy! Sold it in the past year for a small loss. If I were convinced the surfaces are totally original, I'd probably still own it.

Has a Littleton sticker, OGH. Was listed with a poor title that kept it out of the search engine and sandwiched between two 1874 dollars with similar titles and prices. The pictures started with a blurry picture of the reverse.
Free returns? I just couldn't help myself. I'm sitting 500 back off pcgs list if it reholders 55 and doesnt cac. Lol.
Hard to tell from those photos, but looks like a nice piece. I'd send it to CAC before I'd crack it if you're looking towards increasing its value. But as you probably know, I'm quite partial to OGHs.
It really depends on how she looks. Tbh, I bet she's great, and I just got stupid lucky and right place right time. I'd love to keep it in the ogh for sure. I got a lot of gold in em. But if she ends up being like, 58+ or something wild its gotta go.
