PCGS shipping UPS now?

A signature requirement forces me to drive 40 minutes for a UPS pick-up.
FedEx for me is over an hour & generally a deal breaker.
Anyone else live rural and not retired yet?

I am not rural... but such a small village, rural is knocking on my back door...
However, UPS does deliver here, as well as FedEx...
Cheers, RickO
With UPS, there is an option to waive the signature online.
You should get an email mentioning that this is a signature service, but you may waive this by opting out online.
When I got my package from PCGS, I was not home and UPS left it at my front door.
With FedEx you must be home or have someone there to sign for you.
My last submission from PCGS was handled by UPS. According to tracking UPS the package was Out for Delivery all day. They said they attempted delivery later that night at 9:32 PM, which was BS. With both my wife and me at home along with 2 dogs that bark at the wind there was no way an attempt was made without us knowing.
The next day when I check tracking a notation was made that it was delivered to a UPS Access Point and I had a certain amount of time to pick it up or it would be sent back to PCGS.
No note was left at my house and no text or email was sent by UPS. For those who don't check tracking they would have no idea what happened to their package. The least they could have done was to have left a note that a delivery attempt was made and where to pick it up. But of course I knew no attempt was made.

UPS is handy in that it will always deliver at dinner time or when you're not home.
UPS delivered my submission in 3 days. I love it! On the other hand NGC ships registered mail, which takes about a month. Just another reason I’m done with NGC 👎
They sent mine signature required but the driver just dropped them on my doorstep and ran. I work from home so its not a huge issue.
Is there an option for delivery (USPS vs. UPS) method?

Sounds like another great reason to have a PO Box!
The sender can prevent that waiver. Not sure PCGS would need to do that, but I've found there are many scenarios where the convenience options offered by UPS (signature waiver, redirecting a package to a local business for pickup at a better time...) weren't available because the sender disabled them.
Some PO Boxes allow other services to deliver if you use the PO's street address, but not all. I've never set it up and tried it out because the only time I really need this with UPS shipments is when I order wine online, and the USPS won't allow you to use PO Box delivery for alcohol.
My assumption was that if your address on file with PCGS is a PO Box, they will use USPS for return shipping. Perhaps someone at the company can confirm (or deny) that.
EDIT: In any case, the package will be more secure inside your local PO than sitting on your porch.
UPS is terrible and has been nothing but issues for me over the past four years since I moved into my present home. I will have to figure something out for my submissions, as I refuse, outright refuse, to let UPS handle any packages, especially ones with coins.

This came up a few weeks ago. I imagine they're shopping around for the most cost-effective shippers. I also imagine that the submission forms that come out for 2021 will have a way of specifying that UPS is not a good option for you. Meanwhile, I would advise calling customer service if you have a concern with regard to return shipping. It would have been nice had they sent out an e-mail notice regarding their change in return shipping.

That hadn't occurred to me, but excellent point. Well, two excellent points, actually.
