Start saving for Xmas
Here's some pocket change!
So a friend of mine collects these because - his family is related to Beirn. I found this one doing a quick search which was better than a handful they had so they bought it and we decided to send it in for grading.
Some nice looking tokens!🙂
one well worn 1943 D silver war nickel which i found in change some years ago

Awesome! Is that graded??
Nice thread!!
@bolivarshagnasty
I really ... really like that 1909 S VDB!!
It's a details grade but a good example to learn what a whizzed coin/token looks like.

Conder token, DH-7 WIltshire. 1790's. NGC 65BN. Alms for the poor theme:

RMR: 'Wer, wenn ich schriee, hörte mich denn aus der Engel Ordnungen?'
CJ: 'No one!' [Ain't no angels in the coin biz]
PCGS graded is G6. I think it’s about 55 points under-graded....
Came home with this last March just before Covid 19 hit.
My buddy gave it to me cause he knew I like thus stuff and I hadn’t been in the shop for ages. Just now looking at it closely.
That looks like a "die adjustment" strike and not much actual wear.
It's also been recolored after it was whizzed but looks like it was UNC with surface issues before the enhancements.
Might have been dipped and someone tried to make it passable again.
I only have a couple of medals....this one is handy... Cheers, RickO

And the reverse.....Cheers, RickO

Nice piece of history. Here's my medal related to the Indian Wars. It's for General Gibbon's essay on the situation with the Indians.
Now pending for cross-over:

Here's another war-related medal, this one from a Peace Jubilee for the Spanish American War.
Interesting to think this was happening at the same time as Bryan money and less than 2 decades from WWI.
That's just a awesome piece!

@ricko -- What is the edge lettering & # on your Indian Wars medal?
That's just a awesome piece!
thanks, Martin. it was one of those things that shows up simply because I started looking for them, very strange indeed. to be honest, I think it was on eBay but I don't really remember.
all I know for sure is that Zoins has called "dibs" on it.
@tokenpro.... There is no edge lettering on this medal....Cheers, RickO

This is a somewhat recent pick-up, and it demonstrates the skill of art and technology used to bring out all of the details:
You can see the date on the reverse - 1619!
Another very early seen coin, some say a pattern coin.

CANADA Quebec 1870 Anticosti Island 1/8 Penny Quebec
The dies were prepared at the Paris Mint possibly for Honduras. The attribution for Anticosti Island was first published by Scott Stamp and Coin Co. in their Catalogue of Canadian Coins, Medals and Tokens in 1890.

Nice stuff all
It's a beautiful piece and I'm glad it's in your collection Al!
I was lucky enough to pick up a 1998 silver because I just happened to be looking for these and one was available. There's a lot of serendipity with some of these pieces.
Well, if for some reason Zoins no longer wants it, let me be his substitute!
It's past the weekend but I wanted to share this recently acquired Karl Goetz medal, K-131.
Appropriate thread for me this week as a new token appeared today.
That’s is a super nice token @SimpleCollector
