Just Received My Mega Red Book, 6th Edition, 2021!!!!!!!

winestevenwinesteven Posts: 4,984 ✭✭✭✭✭

I get one of these each year, since each edition has a detailed giant expansion of a particular coin denomination. This 6th edition, hot off the press, 1,504 total pages, has 303 pages devoted just to Half Dollars (1794 - Present). In the special section on Half Dollars, they cover more than 770 varieties and 1,700 images of Half Dollars.

I see it is currently available from a seller on eBay (NO relation to me) for $39.99, with free shipping. This is a great reference to add to your library, and to study!

I just saw an ad for it in coinworld a few minutes ago... the wish they didn’t date these things in the future, but that’s a personal preference.

Still, a great reference for a lot of people and an essential guide for newbies.

I have been using the first edition... Might be time to update my material. I wish they would come out with a digital edition (carried on a small CC size card with a USB plug in) like other reference books...Cheers, RickO

Thanks for sharing the info that the Mega version includes focus on a particular coin denomination. May I ask which denominations have been featured in the respective past editions since the Mega version first started coming out a few years ago? Might want to locate an old edition depending on the featured coin denomination.

The first edition includes a special 364-page section on copper half cents and large cents, the second edition includes a detailed 330-page section on Flying Eagle, Indian Head, and Lincoln cents, 3'rd edition features nickels, the 4'th dimes, and the 5'th quarters. Each expanded section really goes into great detail by year, type, photos, etc. etc...

I cut mine into 4 sections and then it's useful. :)

I wish they’d sell just the special sections separately. It would be an exceptional. And I second the request for a digital edition!

Maybe they can combine all the special sections into one book now they have five sections. Next year should be half dollars and the year after that dollars so maybe we will get a Penney to dollar combo then.

I love the MegaRed annual editions. So much so, i contribute for the Early Dimes and quarters for the 4th & 5th editions. Hope you enjoyed those sections. I emphasized how to tell the different die marriages as well as difficulty of securing an example of each one. The pictures of my dimes were used in MR4 as well. It was a fun experience. Hope everyone finds it very useful.

Did not know of the detailed expansion of a particular denomination. As my interest is in dimes, eBay $ 25.95 new 4th edition is now on order. Always learning on the forum. Thanks guys.
